  1. Is Frozen 2 going down? Or is it Incredibles 2? Which is the biggest animated gross in India right now?
  2. Secret Wars is not missing 200M unless Kang Dynasty completely shits the bed. 180M-199M would be phenomenal for an R-rated Deadpool 3, even if it's the Fox X-Men equivalent of No Way Home. KD itself is a wildcard at this point considering there's a big ? over Majors' continued association with the MCU. Getting Loveness off writing duties was probably the right call even tho I thought Quantumania was nowhere as mid as Multiverse of Madness and Secret Wars still has Waldron, so...
  3. They still clowning around even after GotG3 didn't bellflop like they expected/hoped it would?
  4. Love this critical reception for AtSM. 2 down, 1 to go for the greatest superhero trilogy.
  5. Since we're talking about Ariel and Mary Jane, fun fact: Christopher Daniel Barnes voiced both Prince Eric in the og animated TLM and Peter Parker in the iconic 90's Spider-Man animated show.
  6. Whatever. Higher than the 0.00 we were expecting just a month back 😛 I'm really curious now as to how NWH would have performed in China. Do they have ANY Spidey nostalgia at all?
  7. The biggest surprise of the rumored 4 to me is Mescal. Didn't expect him to jump on the MCU bandwagon this soon, least of all as Johnny Storm!! But if true, he's practically the same age as Holland so we'll be getting Peter/Johnny dynamics to drive the fangirls crazy!?!
  8. Disney got a lot bolder after the success of Black Panther and Captain Marvel, case in point being Halle as Ariel, so if Zendaya had been cast in a Spidey movie in say, 2019, Feige would have convinced Sony to let her character retain the Mary Jane name.
  9. TBH, the symptoms were already there in the 2010s: an over-reliance on sequels, and the original films save Inside Out lacking the innovation and creative genius of the 2000s films.
  10. Naah, it was always there. I'm assuming you missed the vile shit thrown at the little kid (AN ACTUAL CHILD) who was cast as Rue in The Hunger Games. Ariel is one of the highest profile characters to be racebent so far, if not THE highest profile one so far, hence why the toxicity seems more in-your-face than previous raceblind castings.
  11. Via Deadline Is 26% Caucasian really bad for a big OW where black audiences came out in huge numbers? Also that Latino % seems impressive enough.
  12. By the simple logic that white Little Mermaid was a smaller franchise than Aladdin in the 90s? But yes, so was white BatB but Emma Watson as Belle was what boosted THAT remake's BO. I can't think of a current teen/early 20's white actress for Ariel who could pull in audiences like Watson's casting did.
  13. Okay then they seem to suck at what they want to do seeing how they couldn't prevent TLM from beating Aladdin and making it to Top 5 Memorial Weekend OWs. The other titles that Disney has this summer like Elementals (not exciting enough and coming out in a very crowded frame) and Indy 5 (following Crystal Skull and already opening to a rotten % at Cannes) don't need right wing assist to underperform.
  14. Brand collabs reduce costs substantially. Often if it's a big IP like Disney Princess, it's the brands that end up paying 100%, not Disney, as it's the association that matters more for their products/merch.
  15. Lol no. It's already killing it in merch sales. Deadline claims marketing budget was 80M, and most of it was brand collabs which further cut costs. As others have stated, a black Ariel has most probably led to BIGGER numbers DOM, not smaller. It's OS where there seems to be a problem, but again, it's not clear how popular TLM is as a brand internationally.
  16. Ya'll need to take a deep breath and remember that: 1. DOM OW > Aladdin is spectacular for Miss Ariel 2. Disney released Avatar 2 literally just 5 months back, featuring a Native American coded race of aliens played by actors of all races, and it went on to become Top 3 WW
  17. The Little Mermaid had a show though! It also introduced one of the best villain characters in The Evil Manta, voiced by the legend himself Tim Curry
  18. Are we sure Samara Weaving and Emma Mackey haters aren't just Margot Robbie fans who view them as a threat to her?
  19. It wasn't her, it was Marvel that decided to go with a non-glam version of MJ for the MCU. Dumbest decision ever because Zendaya is the most Mary Jane Watson person to ever Mary Jane Watson.
  20. TLM was also the 'smallest' of the Big 4 Renaissance films so comparing its live action remake's performance to the other 3 live action remakes isn't the fairest comparison to begin with. It's still outperforming Aladdin DOM OW which is pretty huge in its own right.
  21. And yet Emma Watson was never attacked at this level despite being autotuned x100000. In fact HER casting was what made BatB so huge despite the original, with all its accolades, never being quite as popular as Aladdin (I'm going by the zillions of games, DTV sequels and animated show spin-off in the 90s in assuming that Aladdin was the more lucrative brand than BatB). Halle is much more talented than Emma (no shade and I love Watson but let's be real) and is perfectly cast but apparently people just assume her casting is not merit based and that's who they draw the line at? No matter what excuses they make to justify their reasoning, they're telling on themselves.
  22. Director of the film: Halle was the perfect Ariel Halle: *Is the perfect Ariel* Racists: Well, Disney should have put a 'WHITES ONLY' clause for the casting
