  1. Well, it has a better rating than BatB and TLK so it's one of the better ones.
  2. GotG2 wasn't as well received as the original film. It's not shocking that the third film will decrease. Quantumania probably knocked off 10-20M off the OW but who the heck was expecting this to open close to 200M even before Ant-Man 3? The revisionism to make the doom and gloom worse is unnecessary lmao
  3. Grace's take-it-with-a-pinch-of-salt latest: - The cast is finalized. She's not sure when they will be announced as right now it would take away from GotG3. - Mescal passed. She heard Lukas Gage from Euphoria, The White Lotus was one of the candidates for Johnny. Gage is queer IRL so she thinks Johnny might be queer in the film (not rock solid logic but that's Grace for you) - Based on the timing of cast confirmation, she's speculating Robbie and Driver got their respective roles but she's not sure. In case Robbie turned it down, the next favorites were apparently Vanessa Kirby, Jodie Comer and Alison Williams. - Mila Kunis was considered for either Invisible Woman or The Thing, as they are looking at all genders for the latter - Marvel originally wanted Seth Rogen for The Thing but she doesn't think he's interested - Denzel was offered Galactus (lolz) and he obviously turned it down. That aligns with the rumor around SDCC that Marvel was courting him for a role. Personally, I hope he gets cast as MCU Magneto.
  4. Lol @ ppl thinking AI is smart enough to replace human ingenuity completely but not smart enough to realize it can even replace humankind completely. Of all the dystopian futures in movies, I used to think Skynet was the least likely to come true but here we are.
  5. This film takes the cake for most exasperating rumor mill of casting rumors. It's become a whole cottage industry for 'leakers' and 'scoop sites' over the past 3 years. FF was officially announced in December 2020. It's almost May 2023 now and still no confirmed casting. Annoying doesn't begin to describe the floodgates of rumors that opened up after that Disney Shareholder Presentation announcement.
  6. I'm afraid Hollywood is gonna Sarah Michelle Gellarize their careers by not knowing what to do with them, not caring what to do with them, and the general elitism of looking down at 'small screen' pop culture idols
  7. Previous RT patterns for blockbusters have shown that the scores settles in the final % range after 100 reviews, so this will probably still end up Certified. Still, I suspect it's fairly disappointing for Disney/Marvel that it's looking to end up in the 70s after the 'Best MCU movie since Endgame' hype because NWH and even WF ended up much better. This is a closer score to MoM lmao
  8. I could have seen this breaking out in a less crowded month but as it now stands, November is incredibly competitive and all of its main competition (Chalamet/Zendaya/Pugh/Butler led Dune 2, The Marvels and Wish) overlap in some way or the other with the TG. Probably the most YA/young female centric month of blockbuster releases since... ever? *Before someone states the obvious and says Dune 2 is NOT YA, most of the lead cast and the themes of the film make it more appealing to the Hunger Games demos, even more so than the first film.
  9. It's not her fault the industry is sexist. She was out there showing interest in comic book projects before the MCU and The Dark Knight were even a thing: https://www.mtv.com/news/ay4gv2/rachel-mcadams-eyes-neil-gaimans-black-orchid-as-superhero-role If it had been say Robert Pattinson showing interest in an obscure, offbeat DC character, he would have received the greenlight instantly.
  10. That did not work for The Good Dinosaur. You couldn't have gotten more straightforward than 'boy and his pet' (even if the twist was that the dino was the boy and the boy the pet).
  11. Halle scared away the haters on Twitter with Part of Your World. At least for a bit. The impact of undeniable talent! I know her take on the Reprise will get me all misty eyed 🥲
  12. It's more that DeSantis is soo incredibly desperate now that he's trying to shoot for the moon. He knows Trump will eviscerate him in the Republican primary debates over 'loooosing/being a big loooooser' to Disney if he leaves the fight after realizing that the previous Disney-allied board had limited his oversight capabilities. He's under the impression that his presidential chances are toast if he doesn't get a certified win here and he's not wrong. 😂
  13. These slapstick scenes exist in all the early Disney Princess films. Snow White had dwarf and forest critter hijinks, Cinderella literally takes a break in between movie to play what's basically a Tom & Jerry cartoon with Lucifer and the mice, and Sleeping Beauty has a scene with the two kings as well. I assume they're put in there to amuse smaller kids, especially boys. In recent movies, the princesses have become dynamic enough that they can be part of the slapstick scenes so those sequences don't seem like such jarring detours.
  14. 2003 film is a GOAT tho. However, it was destined to fail coming out just the next weekend after Return of the King and on the same day as Cheaper by the Dozen. Studio probably assumed it would be younger alt-programming to RotK and that the Peter Pan brand name would overshadow Dozen. They were very wrong.
  15. China is not the only country in Asia. Shinkai is very shrewd when it comes to promoting his movies outside of Japan unlike other anime directors and keeps visiting not just the usual markets like SK but also often neglected regions like India as part of his promotional tours.
  16. Unless it pulls a Wonder Woman and clobbers all the competition following it 😛 Also thinking about how huge it could have been if it had managed to make that early October date of last year as originally intended
