  1. The movie has been out for a day in a couple of terrorities and already its underperforming. Jesus wept. Stop being an idiot.
  2. @ Top Gun 3D. Second highest PTA. In the top ten. Bodes well for sequel.
  3. No. I'd say there's no one better at making a film look like a TV commerical.
  4. No. What makes a film is no the subject matter or content but the execution. THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION is typical TV-movie-of-the-week stuff, but you'd have to be insane to say it isn't a cinematic film, for example
  5. That's my point. The general masses wouldn't know good cinematograhpy and mise-en-scene if it hit them in the face - so what difference does it make that BIIT and TLS (supposedly) look like DTV movies?
  6. Still the maximum they are going to lose is $45 million, which I wouldn't consider being a huge flop. WB didn't have anything riding on this film. If it was a hit, great. If it didn't make money, whatever.
  7. Obviously it's going to lose money but it's we're not exactly talking JOHN CARTER or even HUGO here as the movie only cost $45 million to make.
  8. Looking like a TV show didn't stop The Avengers from grossing $600m.
  9. It must really be something if it can beat the Transformers or Hangover movies in those catagories.
  10. :sherlock:Surely X-MEN or FIRST CLASS 2 would have sufficed! Goddamn acronyms.
  11. Please. I know many editors of movie sites who know jack about movies. This isn't a slight against the editor of this site, just saying that using it as evidence is baseless.I would certainly wait until a film has actually passed $100 million OW in December (even adjusted for inflation) before making absurd claims that a film will smoke it by $30 million.I see no reason why anyone should have expected THE HOBBIT to outgross ROTK's adjusted opening ($95 million). ROTK had much more hype and upfront demand.$85 million for THE HOBBIT is very good.
  12. LOL. PR will be extremely lucky to make $400 million WW. No stars.GDT is not guaranteed box office. No brand recognition (ie, Transfomers)A lot of people think it looks silly.
  13. ROTK had the benefit of being the last film in the trilogy which increased demand dramatically just like ROTJ or ROTS or even HP7PII.
  14. It's hilarious in how ridiculous some people's prediction are rather than the film's gross. People expected it to double the December record?Clearly people with no grasp of the box office.
  15. I'm not saying THE HOBBIT will emulate AVATAR. Get that right. But saying any film with a $85 million opening the week before Christmas is "bad" is absurd. Also AVATAR did not have a massive in-built fanbase that drove demand on OD, which is why THE HOBBIT dropped significantly. The die-hard went to see the movie. Normal people are too busy in the run up to Christmas and will see it in the coming weeks. This is how the Christmas period works.
  16. No. No, it's not. Stop being dense. I bet you were one of those clowns that said AVATAR was a flop after its opening weekend too.$85 million for any movie the week before Chistmas is not bad. THE HOBBIT will be fine.
  17. These numbers are complete bollocks. There is not a chance in hell TE2 is opening to less than TE. None. Whatsoever.
  18. Based on my experience I would say SPIDER-MAN 3 was more hyped than TDKR, so the number seems right.
  19. Anyone who thinks this opening is disappointing or underperforming is an idiot. And anyone who thinks "What could have been if there wasn't a shooting" is also an idiot. The movie is almost three hours long. No 3D. It didn't have a chance of beating The Avengers OW once that dumbfoundedly made $200 million. Maybe if it had The Joker again. But Bane is nowhere NEAR as well known to the general public as The Joker is. It's no coincidence that the two biggest Batman films of all time have The Joker in them and the rest don't even come close.
  20. It will sail past Star Wars: SE as the biggest re-release. Sail!! Haha. See what I did there?
  21. Wow, that guy isn't black at all. I bet if it was the other way around (white actor cast for black dude) there would be murder on the streets. Can't believe this TV movie of the week drivel has made so much money.
