  1. Can you keep this until Friday? PWEEZ?
  2. I don't understand why some people gloss over the impact of the books. As massive as the movies were, they books were much larger. I mean, the books sold 400m copies in eleven years - that i something not even LoTR came close to achieving. There will never be anything like Potter.
  3. 1. Deathly Hallows Part 22. The Tree of Life3. The Descendants4. Super 85. 50/506. Win Win7. Our Idiot Brother8. The Help9. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol10. Crazy, Stupid, LoveI don't feel like doing 15. Plus, there are A LOT of films I need to see. I've seen 70 films from 2011. I have yet to see Hugo, The Artist, Source Code, Warrior, etc.
  4. I'm not saying LotR didn't penetrate the mainstream, because it obviously did. But not to the point of Potter and Star Wars.
  5. I enjoyed War Horse a lot - and the last fifteen minutes were shockingly emotional, so I don't mind it being nominated at all. It wouldn't make MY list because I thought the first hour and a half was too slow.
  6. Potter's largest factor to its popularity will always be the books - and I think I can very safely say that the books themselves will last far more than the Star Wars films. That's what will make Potter last longer than Star Wars in the end - the books. These books have become classics, and they can be adapted into film with each new generation. The same cannot be said for Star Wars (unless they make new ones, of course).Even when comparing the film series, Potter in many countries has always been a larger cultural event than Star Wars - including the OT (Germany, France, Australia, Russia (obv), Japan, China, etc). As for the Potter books, they were, in the end, a larger cultural event than the Star Wars films. I mean, 400m copies sold in 11 years (450m now), that's just staggering. But even in films, The Lord of the Rings isn't something that can beat Star Wars or Potter. It's true, because there have been countless people who work at stores that said parents buy those two series to introduce to their children. As much as I love LoTR, and as large as the films were, they never had the cultural impact of those two.
  7. I honestly believe DH2 would have gotten in with last year's rule.
  8. DH1 has the best cinematography to me, HBP and DH2 tied for second. They're all visually stunning, but my favorite has to be DH1. When you put it like that...
  9. No one is doubting that the Potter films will be the most remembered series of this generation (ala SW), but it's just that it would be very nice to see them actually win awards.
  10. Sphongle, I miss you attacking me and Potter. I really do.
  11. Underworld Awakening: $1,673,831
  12. Tree of Life - AThe Help - AMidnight in Paris - CMoneyball - B-Descendants - AWar Horse - B+Need to see Hugo, EL&IC, and The Artist.
  13. That wasn't an attack. Stop being so sensitive, please.
  14. Dragon Tattoo sure as hell didn't deserve a nomination.
  15. I thought it might have had a chance since the Academy has a huge boner for Desplat.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSpYLlzD7fshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uI_9kZ2qZNE&feature=relatedUgh, those three tracks alone should have gotten a nomination.
