Collateral- Awesome crime thriller but why Boxoffice so low??

Its a such an amazing movie... a 60 million budget movie with a gross of 210 million super hit based on ROI-return on invetment y overall gross so low??

It made something like 217m WW. More than 3 times its budget. And back in 2004 i think those were some really good numbers for such a film. I don't think that Collateral was an easy sell. It was a griity and atmoshperic film and probably the first time that Cruise played a bad guy. Jamie Foxx wasn't as big as he is now either.

I think that it was and still is considered a solid hit.

Collateral was a big hit.  It opened with 24m and finished over a 100m.  Thats impressive.

 

And yes, Collateral is one of the best crime thrillers ever.

The best part of that scene is when he just casually shoots the barely alive guy in the head as hes picking up his briefcase.  I still remember the laughs and all the "holy shit" variations it got in the theater.

I always thought collateral was considered a success. Great movie and great performances from Cruise, Fox and Ruffalo.

its a amazing movie..... no wonder tom accepted this movie which had less potential at Boxoffice due to its genre at tat point of time no one cud hav replaced tom in that role
