The part 1 is as long as the entire play? Did they change their minds and make it one movie ?

I would like to think so, but I doubt it.

The touring production of Wicked I saw took three hours, but that included a 15 minute intermission so ,yeah, you could easily put the entire play into two hours and 40 minutes, since almost any big stage show has a few minutes in  which scenary is changed.

I hope this just a placeholder runtime because nearly three hours for Act 1 kinda makes me lean into thinking this might enter trainwreck territory. At the very least, it might dampen the box office.

Making this into Two Parts is why I think this is problamatic at the box office.

You could easily fit the stage show into Two Hours and 40 Minutes.

Yep Universal is really playing with fire here.

I don;t even want to think of what the padding will be like in part 2.

If it had been a single film I would have been there opneing night, now I don't know.

I assumed because it was a two parter the film would have a two hour running time, even if both prats were two hours you would have a bit too much padding. Now heaven knows what the padding will be like.

Universal got greedy, and it might bite them in the butt.
