Maleficent under performed in Chile. Wonder why? as it slayed the rest of the region.

I wouldn't say that Maleficent is underperforming in Chile. HTTYD is outperforming compared to other Latin american markets

Awesome start for the local movie Wild Tales. Easily the best week for 2014, even without any holiday. 

 

Top 5 Week:

 

1- Wild Tales (Relatos Salvajes), 655266 admissions, new, almost $4m.

2- TMNT, 143681 adm, -47%. Cume: 414826 adm.

3- GotG, 64233 adm, -43%. Cume: 697451 adm.

Good holds all over taking in account that last week's Monday was a national holiday. Wild Tales beats Frozen to become the best week in 2014 (Frozen's first week: 577k, in the beginning of their summer holidays)

Weird Thursday... Wild Tales saw a 15% increase. GotG only 20% drop and TMNT falls 35%. Yesterday was not a holiday there so a read the news to find a reason for such a good holds. 85% of the people was on strike yesterday and some early shows were cancelled but the afternoon shows were very good.The Expendables 3 opened yesterday but it did only $50k and Sex Tape did half of that. Let's see what happens during the weekend. Wild Tales and GotG passed 700k admissions.

Well, this franchise is not very successful in Argentina. The first movie sold 297k tickets in total and the second one 375k. Exp 3 looks like is going to do worst. OD only 8100 admissions.

In Argentina it was always on Thursdays. Also in Peru, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, Brazil and Mexico movies usually open on Thursdays. In Paraguay on Fridays. In the rest of LA I don't know.
