I'd imagine that once 2013 is added the # of digital screens will increase dramatically again.... possibly more than half the total screens.

I do wonder whether we will see that flatten out eventually though (I suspect that not all cinemas will convert in the end)

Digital conversion theaters/screens is almost at 100%, theres a few Independents still to convert all other sites are either 100% or have just a few screens left(major circuits theres like 3-4 screens in complexes left). 35mm prints per titles these days is 3-5 max and will probably disappear completely by mid year

Imax Sydney /Melbourne by mid-end of the year will go Laser projection (need to fill large screen size, current Imax digital can't even come close) and at that point  get rid of the current digital projectors and probably 70mm as well(unless they feel for some older ttitles they need to keep untill everything is availalbe in laser format)

- Frozen might have the legs for 35m, but we shall have to wait now.... i think around 34.5m is where this is heading.

- DOS looks to be winding up just short of 39m.  It may still pass 39m and threaten for the top film that opened in 2013 but it looks unlikely.

- The book thief is tracking towards 15m.

- Philomena is now pushing for a total above 10m.

- Grudge match got demolished on it's first weekend... a mere 350k ...

the story of the week though is The wolf of Wall Street... a 27% dip from it's already strong opening weekend.  Looks to be on track for a total well above 20m which is way above my expectations.

of note frozen lost the most screens this past weekend loosing 130 out of it's 380 from the weekend before.  DOS wasn't far behind with a 94 screen dip.

Strange that Grudge Match did THAT badly because I did see a decent amount of promotion for it.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how well 12 Years a Slave did as usually films about American issues/history don't usually do very well. The per theatre average is pretty strong.

And Banks should cross 10 million which is nice. I also didn't expect The Book Thief to play as well as it did even with the Australian influence.

They normally do better here than any other country, like The Help for example.

Yes, typically if it makes Anglo Americans look bad, there is more appetite overseas. Not a political statement or anything, just something I've noticed.

Then you have noticed wrong, films that deal with slavery/civil rights, and general black white relationships (in which the term Anglo American would be meaningful), are usually amongst the worst performers OS.

Wolf barely dropped today from last week's Saturday at work, but the 40C had to do with that.Robocop about 50% of Wolf this week, Last Vegas about 65% of it.

you would think if you seeing figures like that for wolf then it should be able to pull another sub 30% dip australia wide ?

robocop is a flop then ?  lol
