Everything (including Mirror Mirror) are pulling good numbers! THG is easily winning with tBEMH pulling close #2 on friday with Wrath/21JS just behind. Mirror Mirror should easily be able to get well over $1m from the numbers I'm seeing. No idea about the Lorax during the day but at night it did pretty respectable.$5.0m THG$4.5m Lorax$3.0m Wrath$2.5m BEMH$1.8m 21JSAre my guesses :)

This next 2weeks could be very interesting. It's the first time ever that QLD is having a 2week holiday at Easter. Will help all films up this way with more overlap with southern states than we've normally seen.

So, The Hunger Games held very well next to its large opening and the drop in the US. It's currently the third highest grossing film this year. Given that Easter holidays are starting up, $25m looks to be a reachable target. Marigold Hotel also had a great hold down just 23%. It's going to have good drops in the coming weeks and should end up above The Descendants' $15m. The Lorax's opening is decent, just slightly less than Rio's last year. That film ended with just over $16m. And Wrath flopped yes, with less than a third of the first's $6.4m OW. It will struggle to hit even $10m.http://www.urbancinefile.com.au/home/boxoffice.aspI'd put up a chart, but the HTML functions have been reduced.I don't like how I've written that. It's very repetitive, something I don't really feel with BOM's weekend reports.

outside of of THG and marigold, a very disappointing weekend in my mind.WOTT was even less than i expected (I thought it could manage at least 3m but then i think it's been sucked in by the vortex that has become the hunger games.)I'm actually very disappointed with the Lorax number. Given the opening the US I expected so much more. (is Dr Seuss that much more popular stateside ?) I had Lorax pegged at 4m+, with a shot at 6m. but 2.1m ? thats even worse when u look at how many screens its on. a very very wide 507 and still only got 2.1m. yes i know it's holidays now and yes it will hold well no doubt. But most other blockbuster animated films that open to only 2m or so in the first week aren't fully wide across australia (only are open in specific states. If someone had told me 3 weeks ago, that the top 2 films from the weekend of THG release date would still be on top the following weekend, I would have laughed them out of the park. Well... here we are.... THG should be on target for a 25m+ finish. 30m looks shakey at best though it does have holidays / easter support over the coming weekends so expect some good holds.

Oh one more thing - I watched Marigold yesterday and there was AT LEAST 50 people in the cinema. For my work that is absolutely insane!!! Apart from the major releases, movies don't even get THAT busy on most school holiday days.
