9-Event Castle Hill 16, Sydney   (KTSS)

10-village Casino 13, Melbourne (KTSS)

This list just shows the pure dominance of Event on the market here.

Hoyts has such a bad reputation. But I guess it doesn't really help when - at least from a Sydney perspective - Hoyts is kinda just thrown in the dodgy parts of the suburbs. (Yes Bankstown, Penrith & Mt Druitt, I'm lookin at you guys)

And don't forget Village is part of Australian Theatres with Event, GU and BCC.

Apart from the Entertainment Quarter at Fox all the Hoyts I've been to have sucked. That includes Broadway, Eastgardens, Charlestown and Warrawong.

Charlestown is a shocker lot thought it would close once Reading opened down the road, the 2 big cinemas Eastgardens are ok

and the Event, BCC, GU confusing in itself some sites are Event some GU etc, like recently new complex opened in Townsville , new site Townsville Central is BCC branded, Townsville city is Event branded. Locals are confused with ticket redemptions etc.

Various complexes 50/50 (some % varies) Village & AHL the other thing is thast AHL (parent company) itself has a share in Village Roadshow

It really does (and i used to work for them). I now work for an AHL company so I hear things about Event.. They run this shit well.

There's a new movie website linking all the theatres.

http://www.movietimes.com.au

It's pretty basic. I had a survey to complete and got a free movie ticket. There's Jupiter Ascending covered.

Rth, do you know what intentions the theatre chains have with this website.  Will it remain basic screening times or will it morph into a Fandango like site?

Rth, do you know anything?  Thanks.

Movietimes

Basic session, get session data for a large number theatres as for ticket sales it all redirects to cinemas own websites (no plans to change that) for that. Where as Fandango does bookings themselves either through a ticket allocation given by theatre or direct access to theatre inventory

Did you go to Atmos screening in Vmax

Indeed I did. The sound was just stunning. Even jaw dropping. Hearing dire straits through that was just awesome. Very impressive sound system in there. Is that in use anywhere in brissie yet?
