Jupiter ascending was around 20% behind fifty shades at my site. And fifty shades had as many admits today as it did in one session last Thursday! Looking at around a 75% drop here.

The rest of the weekend should have a smaller drop though.

If that's the case elsewhere then Event/GU/BCC/Village made a mistake not having more VMAX sessions for JA.  It's clearly a film far more suited to VMAX then FSOG.

that its true but it also come down to what films need bigger seating capacity , you could have for example said give JA 1-2 sessions in Vmax(which is what did at Liverpool 2 sessions in Vmax), At George St yesterday JA was 3rd ranked film took 34% of FSOG figure , at Liverpool where they did give JA Vmax Screen couple sessions JA ranked #2 and 87% of FSOG figure.

Thu

FSOG be around 715-720k for day -71% aim for 4-4.2 for weekend

#2 JA 340k  #3 KTSs around 270k,

 updates to JA

Hi

This is general feedback regarding your screening decisions for the release of Jupiter Ascending this weekend.  My main issue is the lack of VMAX screenings across all the theatres but specifically at George St.  I understand that Jupiter Ascending wasn't expected to be as big this weekend as 50 Shades of Grey and nationwide on Thursday it only did roughly one third of Grey at the box office.  Still, 1 or 2 of the 9 VMAX sessions at George St could have been Jupiter Ascending.

I have low expectations for Jupiter Ascending but I still would have like to have seen it on a VMAX screen.

Seems like Jupiter Ascending and Kingsman both overperformed at my site compared to the nation. But the drop for 50 Shades was about right.

Village has some sites with VMAX sessions for both Jupiter Ascending and Fifty Shades  (Southland and Fountain Gate) and some with only fifty shades (Crown and Knox).

not sure what impacts if any will be seen to the box office over the next day or so....  TC Marcia causing some havoc currently in central queensland but forecasts expecting some big impacts from ex TC as it passes over South East QLD / Brisbane.  Mostly winds up to 100km/hr and lots and lots of rain....

crazy stuff... given there are a few sites in the top 10 normally nationally (chermside; robina often make it) i suspect we may see some minor impacts to bo from here.. hard to tell though as the greatest impacts are today / tomorrow.

yep.  absolutely torrential on the northside of brisbane right up to the sunshine coast at the moment... at least the wind hasn't really picked up yet though.

Hard to tell at this stage... but i think the Union game (Reds) will go ahead now .. but no sure.

And Cricket is still up in the air, but if this clears quickly enough and it appears to moving a little faster this morning (EX TC that is), then we may get a 20 - 20 match at least. (the min required to finish a game)

It was actually pretty steady rain through to mid morning last Saturday in Melbourne and then it cleared to blue skies for the cricket. Maybe we'll get the same. All depends on the drainage at the Gabba.

hard to tell, but we are getting hourly totals of 25mm to 75mm depending where u are.......

so far brisbane city (CBD guage) has had 84mm overnight + 18mm so far this morning but the main stormfront is still approaching the CBD (i'm on the northside and it's been constant for over 2.5 hrs now.  Caboolture (to the north of me) has managed 200mm+ to 9am (overnight mostly this morning) with a further 60mm since 9am. (approx).  radar shows it's just finishing up there in the past half hour or so.

I would think that Brisbane City / Gabba area would be looking at 100mm - 200mm totals before the game even starts.. so the drainage will have to be pretty good i think.

Looking at the radar it should clear in the next hour and then be fine through the evening.

Actually, that's probably not going to happen. I was reading the wind direction incorrectly.
