Now this is where you select what will be nominated in almost all the cats.

Though of course picture is a toughie due to the rules where anywhere from 5 noms to 10 noms could happen.

What you do is you put 5 picks with 1 alt. (except for makeup where there are 3 noms, picture anywhere from 5-10 noms)

As an example-lets say this is your director ballot:

Wes Anderson for Hotel

Ava DuVernay for Selma

Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu for Birdman

Richard Linklater for Boyhood

Bennett Miller for Foxcatcher

Alt: Morten Tyldum for The Imitation Game

And the nominees turn out to be:

Wes Anderson for Hotel

Ava DuVernay for Selma

Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu for Birdman

Richard Linklater for Boyhood

Morten Tyldum for The Imitation Game

You would get 8 points for getting 4 right and 1 point for guessing the alt.

Also make sure you put the name of the person and the film for acting and directing

Director was tough as I have Fincher, Tyldum and Miller all fighting for the 5th spot. I put Fincher there and Tyldum as the alt.

I have Fincher, Tyldum and Chazelle all fighting for the 5th spot. I can totally see Chazelle being this year's Zeitlin, and Whiplash in general being this year's Beasts of the Southern Wild. Think that movie is gonna clean up on nom day and surprise a lot of people with as many as 7.

I'm just happy it's looking more and more like Wes Anderson has secured a spot in the noms. It's long overdue, and well deserved as TGBH is the peak of his work thus far, imo.

Looking at my actor ballot I realized that it be next to impossible for all first timers, last time was in the 1930s. Actress was 1970 which is the only time since the 2nd Oscars.

You bring up a good point. I assume you mean first timers for either a supporting or lead nom right? Even still, since the 30's there's only been two times one of the best actor noms wasn't nominated for the lead category before. 1970 and 2005. That definitely puts the odds in favor of Gyllenhaal or Fiennes for the 5th spot over Carrell. Though not even Gyllenhaal has gotten in lead before. Fiennes could be a big upset nom.

Well updating this now.

(Now watch Foxcatcher get nominated :P well last year I had Philomena up to the VERY last minute! Then the year before I accidently forgot to put editing! Oops! And I also got rid of Hoffman at the last moment, not that it mattered as I replaced him with DeNiro :P)
