This seems to be one of the cartoon-based live action films, I'm really fond of.

 

I liked the "Smurfs" characters, and how they're given different personalities and abilities.....especially Papa Smurf.

 

I also enjoyed Hank Azaria as the villain, Gargamel. He seemed to nail the evil, yet comedic & mastermind-ish side to the character.

Dissecting The Smurfs would be a total waste of time. Everyone knows this movie is horrendous, and to get into reasons why would simply be too huge a task to undertake. Azaria is the only one worth noting as his ham is appreciated half the time (the other half it's horribly grating). The effects are bad, and the story is a much more juvenile and sloppy version of Enchanted. The Smurfs is a terrible film; and that's all there is to it. D-
