Looks good, very genuine setting. Liked J. Fiennes in Luther and Robin Hood is one of my favourite adventure films. Will keep it in sight.

Someone at the studio finally looked at a calendar! The third week of Februrary is much more in line with PotC's release date, though it's hard to believe this will dominate the box office the same way and linger in enough theaters to return to #1 Easter weekend.

There is plenty of competition every weekend in March for the faith driven audience. I think domestically this can do around 50M if everything falls into place. They are missing a trick by not releasing this on Ash Wednesday though.

Got the trailer at The Big Short... You know, this would actually be a decent premise for a Biblical blockbuster, but they seem fine with making it low-budget and marketing only to the Christian demographic.

Sincere acting and worthy production values. Effectively places you within the time period. Attempts subtlety to be all things to all people though. This is sincere and without a hint of cynicism. The story is compelling and well told if considering it is entirely from the point of view of a Roman soldier.

The only problem I have with the film is the continued anti- Catholic memes which seem to inhabit all media.

Oh almost forgot. Not an epic crowd by any means but more than I expected considering few know this is actually in cinemas. Not much marketing that I have seen. Word of mouth should be decent.

Final predict:

DOM: 31M

Might to a bit better. But there is an amazing number of films for Easter that look even more compelling. Risen is the best movie I have experienced at recreating that era and place. Timeless film that will do well after its theater run.
