My previous poll had a low turnout because some people didn't remember enough about the films to make a response. So I came up with this.

How many of the popular films from twenty years ago do you actually remember decently today? Not in a "I saw it in a theater at the time and then forgot about it" way.

Even if you weren't alive or were too young then you can still vote! Many of these movies are still played on TV today!

I separated it into "Varsity Squad" for the more popular films and "JV Squad" for the less popular ones due to the poll choice limit. It'll be interesting to see how many people choose more than 3 JV Squad movies.

I'm only including movies that have a positive reputation. Nobody wants to acknowledge the existence of a certain movie with the initials "BF".

How exactly is Dead Man Walking - an Oscar-winning film that performed relatively well at the box office, covers a topic that remains extremely controversial today, and is based on a book that even shows up on some school curriculum today - JV, while Mallrats - a bomb that even some Kevin Smith apologists don't seem to like that much - scores a "varsity" label?

Four Rooms and First Knight are the movies that have a positive reputation somewhere? Hurl.

And lol how the hell did Showgirls not make the poll in any form even though it remains a much more popular movie today than most of the blockbusters from that year, even if it's mostly talk about the movie's lack of value?

While You Were Sleeping not getting into the Varsity column while things like Mortal Kombat (I saw in theaters and can now recall absolutely nothing about it) and Ace Ventura 2 do is just criminal. The one two combo of that movie and Speed catapulted Sandra to superstar level, after all.

You complain about Four Rooms and First Knight being on the poll because you didn't think they had a positive reputation (they have an above-average reputation today)...and then you mention Showgirls which is usually considered terrible. Wow.

Showgirls is infamous (since it has developed some sort of cult following over the years), whereas the other two exist as minor blips on the filmographies of all involved. First Knight is really only notable for having one of the most obvious examples of miscasting ever (Richard Gere as Lancelot).

I see Mallrats talked about more than DMW these days even if it isn't anywhere near as acclaimed, especially with those who didn't grow up at the time they were released. I think it's because DMW's premise is rather the opposite of a crowd-pleaser today while everyone can relate to the adventures of slackers in the mall.

OK so it's been 2 weeks and nobody else is voting. Will put the results (largely as expected) in this post. Mods, please remove the poll.

8 votes - Toy Story

7 votes - Apollo 13

6 votes - Se7en

5 votes - Heat, Jumanji, Twelve Monkeys

4 votes - Babe, Braveheart, Clueless, Die Hard with a Vengeance, GoldenEye, Pocahontas

3 votes - Bad Boys, Before Sunrise, Crimson Tide, Mallrats

2 votes - Billy Madison, Casino, A Goofy Movie, Outbreak, The Usual Suspects, Waterworld

1 vote - Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, The American President, The Bridges of Madison County, Casper, Dangerous Minds, Dead Man Walking, Desperado, First Knight, Friday, Get Shorty, Hackers, Mortal Kombat, The Quick and the Dead, Rob Roy, Tommy Boy, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, While You Were Sleeping

Leaving Las Vegas was the only "Varsity" movie with zero votes.
