riczhang
Maggie Smith for what? Best Exotic? oh don't be fucking ridiculous. she was amazing in Exotic.
CoolioD1
Nah, she was alright at best. That movie was such an awful, contrived piece of shit though and it should be nowhere near any discussion of any kind of award ever.

It's not a masterpiece by any chance but it's still a good movie.
RichWS
I can't wait till it's on HBO so I can see it.
CoolioD1
I'm surprised anyone under the age of 97 could think of it as a good movie, but whatever.
riczhang
I'm surprised anyone under the age of 97 could think of it as a good movie, but whatever.I find that insulting. It's for me it's a fairly good light-hearted comedy. 3rd to Moonrise (2nd) and Hope Springs (1st) this year. Not far behind those two though. It's certainly better than a fair few of the movie gaining momentum in the Oscar race this year.
CoolioD1
Hope Springs was shite as well.
4815162342
I thought BEMH was a good film :unsure:Maggie Smith was good but definitely not worthy of a nomination
riczhang
Hope Springs was shite as well. I thought it was the best film perhaps made about Marriage bar Amour and Ingmar's Scenes from a Marriage.
Dementeleus
I'm surprised anyone under the age of 97 could think of it as a good movie, but whatever.A good movie's a good movie, regardless of age.

CoolioD1
A good movie's a good movie, regardless of age.I can't imagine anyone young liking a movie so contrived, lame and dull. It's only for old people because the jokes are probably as old as they are. So they can enjoy it.
riczhang
Michael Haneke....Ingmar Bergman....David Frankel.Well there's only like a handful of movies about that sort of love.
RichWS
I don't begrudge you for liking it. I haven't seen the thing. Just putting Frankel's name with those two made me laugh.

JackO
The frontrunner mantle has clearly shifted now from Argo to Lincoln. It is a dangerous proposition to put a difficult film like Lincoln in that position but only someone who knows nothing about the Oscars — or those deliberately blinkered from reality — would fail to see the buzz for Lincoln building in momentum. http://www.awardsdaily.com/blog/2012/11/20/the-state-of-the-race-defining-an-oscar-frontrunner/ Easy to see after Lincoln's OW gross.
