fishstick
Chronicle is found footage contemporary horror whatever that was meant to be #1 by default. TWIB is old-fashioned one. That TWIB is in photofinish with Chronicle is nothing short of a miracle. DR or not, that type of horror didn`t sell since The Others. So it`s a huge win for both movies.

Chewy
TWIB also didn't have dozens of geek sites trying their hardest to pimp it for months. I'm more impressed with TWIB's number but just happy in general that we're getting good successful movies in the 1st quarter instead of the garbage train we got the last few years

kayumanggi
So a 9.08 M Saturday for CHRONICLE?
MrWhoopee
Not to say Chronicle was bad... I'm a big horror fan and a big naysayer of the found footage genre, so the fact that I liked Chronicle means a lot. I really wished I could have seen it in the form of a big Hollywood production... kayumanggi
20 M is possible even if CHRONICLE plummets by 75% on Sunday if that 5% increase report is accurate.
CJohn
So a 9.08 M Saturday for CHRONICLE?Again, wasn't that the difference between Chronicle and WiB...?
RichWS
20 M is possible even if CHRONICLE plummets by 75% on Sunday if that 5% increase report is accurate. That wasn't a report, that was me misreading the original tweet. There's a $500K difference between the films, as CJohn has pointed out.
kayumanggi
I see. So it's really too close. TWIB could win the weekend.
fishstick
It had Daniel Radcliffe though.Yeah and Dream House had Daniel Craig and two known actresses and it wasn`t a period movie.Big names don`t mean shit in horror genre where most successful movies are usually ones with total nobodies (PA, anyone?). That DR proved a draw is a great news for him but he wasn`t a sure thing. Not to take anything away from Chonicle but credit where it`s due. DR or not, it`s super popular fad genre vs something that worked in 60s.
CJohn
Dream House had the twist in the trailer...
fishstick
Dream House was so bad DC refused to promote it so they had to put the twist in the trailer since there was nothing going for that movie.
CJohn
Well, that was a very bad move, IMO.
Hiccup
Dream House was awful. The trailer gave everything away.
fishstick
Well, that was a very bad move, IMO.Not as bad as Cameron SuperDitz Diaz spoiling The Box twist at the ComicCon. The one they tried to keep under the wraps at all costs.
