Endless Animation greenlights another cancelled animated film potential for Y6 as it and Pigeon 2 compete against each other:

From the mind of Jorge R. Gutierrez (Book of Life, El Tigre):

Yep. Kung Fu Space Punch might be coming to a theater near you. Described as a mix of sci-fi space opera, spaghetti westerns, superhero movies and anime, stars Susanna (voiced by Cierra Ramirez), following her family’s legacy of the greatest intergalactic heroes is the youngest member of the Galactic Gang of Do-Gooders as well as first woman on the force, finds herself in an attempt to earn respect on the force finds herself on an intergalactic quest alongside the some of the most wanted galactic criminals: former captain of a gang of pirates as well as cocky and narcissistic Miguel de La Macho (Antonio Banderas), a defective yet dangerous and also highly humorous robot (Micheal Pena), and a snarky armadillo/frog humanoid hybrid with spiky anime hair who happens to be a samurai (Natilia Dyer) as they must stop a powerful queen (Kathryn Hahn) from getting a intergalactic creature that will make her the strongest fighter on the planet which would mean... world domination.

The film will be computer animated but animated somewhat like Book of Life but whereas the characters there had more puppet like designs, the characters will be designed like action figures.

Rumor has it that Endless has an idea to tie it, Book of Life and El Tigre together somehow.

Cookie Pictures making plans to debut three separate previews during Oscar night: one during the ceremony, two before or after the show. Reports suggest one of these three previews will be for a Y7 project.

UPDATE

Turns out there was a mix up. Antonio Banderas’ character was a separate character in the film and not of the main four. It turns out Harrison Ford will play the male lead described known as Johnny Holiday mainly to fit a bit more in line with Gutierrez’s original pitch to showcase the bond of a Mexican Girl and American Man.

While in Gutierrez’s original pitch Holiday and Susanna were childhood rivals and likely would have winded up together but Gutierrez decides that although the relationship is the core, it’s a father/daughter role, in that both characters will learn and grow from each other.
