$58 million in 3 days without USA,China,Russia,Mexico and Brazil it's wonderful, don't be so pessimistic guys.

No one is pessimistic if this 58 mill number is 3 day.The problem is that we dont know if its 3,4 or 5 day

If Battleship was released in all OS markets in Opening Week, it should make $120-130m.That would be one of the biggest 2D non-sequels' OS Opening Weeks ever.

And with a multiplier of 2.5, it is looking to a 300M OS finish. With a 200M+ budget, it needs at least 200M DOM + 300M OS; or 150M DOM + 400M OS to break even.So a sequal may not happen if 58M OW turns true. Edited by firedeep

GI Joe 1 only made 302m WW. GI Joe 2 will be released in this summer.Battleship's OS number will be more than GI Joe 1's WW number.

58m OS in Opening Week is not a bad number.Battleship is a 2D non-sequel, it isn't a big name for OS audiences, and the emerging markets' capacities aren't big enough now.

It's not 58m in opening week. It's 58m in 3 days (Wednesday to Friday). Saturday and Sunday numbers have yet to come in.

It's 58m in Opening Week.If you summate the opening week predictions of 26 territories (40 countries), the total number approximates to 58m.

SATURDAY AM, 2ND UPDATE: Universal’s Battleship continues to screen strongly overseas with estimates from Day 2 and Day 3 bringing the 72-hour total to $58 million with all 26 international territories now open.

It's a 3-day estimate from Wednesday to Friday of 58 million. The wording is very clear, all territories are now open meaning those including countries where it opened on Friday are now screening it. Also, she is very definitive in saying what the total is so it's not a prediction.

58m also seems too low for a 5-day weekend.

The Hollywood Reporter

The biggest gross of the weekend will come overseas, where Universal and Hasbro's Battleship is rolling out five weeks ahead of its May 18 launch. The pic, earning $25 million in its first three days (in some territories, movies open midweek), is projected to gross $58 million through Sunday from 26 markets.

58m is not a bad number for a 5-day opening week.

It will have a bigger second week.
