Rudolf
There was a famous commedy-routine of an even more famous German commedian Otto (he also had record breaking movies), in which he played the different organs in a human body comunicating with each other. That was almost 40 years ago. He probably did not invent it either. Then there was Osmosis Jones(2001) with similar theme, but no success. kayumanggi
How is that even relevant? It is relevant because Pixar doesn't have originality like the uberly amazing ICE AGE films that he adores..

Neo
Will Pixar cancel the DIA DE LOS MUERTOS movie now that Fox is doing BOOK OF LIFE?I don't think so. We had to SW movies this year, 2 WH movies next year and SEAL movies.

Remember what happened to NEWT because of RIO? I consider them different and yet Pixar cancelled their movie.

AniNate
Neo, Pixar behaves differently. Remember what happened to NEWT because of RIO? I consider them different and yet Pixar cancelled their movie. They weren't that different. They had the same basic storyline, which is what really mattered. Dreamworks didn't cancel Rise of the Guardians just because Arthur Christmas came out the previous year. Mayhem2x3
Was it ever stated by PIXAR that was the reason?I believe Lass might have made a reference to that effect, or at least I someone on here claimed he did. I assume the project had a lot of problems coming together and Rio being so similar might have been more of a final nail in the coffin.Separately, I found this cool round table from most of the directors of last years animated films that was cool to watch:
