Does anyone now in how many theaters the triple features were shown.

Cause the ones I looked into seemed to have been quite packed (above 500 people per cinema).

People even booked the awful seats in the first rows and the ones on the side in like the first five rows or so - and that for 12 hours (Extended Version...).

LotR 1 now definitely has above 12m admissions (only needed 4.5k) (the ninth movie since 1957 and only the second since 2000 (the other is Harry Potter 1) (before 2000 Titanic did it in 1998 and continuavano a chiamarlo Trinità (Vier Fäuste für ein Hallelujah) was the last before Titanic and that movie started in 1972 and Otto did it in 1985 (if one adds BRD and DDR numbers)).

#4 Rehragout Rendezvous 102.5k/1.202.5M
#5 Meg 2 60k/925k
#6 Elemental 50k/1.787.5M

Ok weekend with four 6-digit-releases - Equalizer 3 with an excellent opening, quite a bit bigger than I expected, whils Strays flopped even harder than expected. Barbie, Oppenheimer and especially Elemental with good holds once more, while Rehragout dropped a bit steeper - still on its way to become the bestselling entry in this series!

In Austria, also all Top4 with >10k admissions, but different positions: Barbie led in front of Rehragout,  Equalizer3 and Oppenheimer.

Next weekend: With summery weather predicted, expect steeper drops; no big openers but domestic comedy Enkel für Fortgeschrittene might make the Top5 (in Germany). My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 is also opening, presales are there but nothing special. Releasing two comedies about families on the same weekend might not have been the best idea but the demo has been a bit neglected so maybe both can survive.

Is it Kinofest weekend this weekend with €5 tickets?

Yep, you're right! Is it really 5€? that would be nice and will push admissions a bit.

Here in Tyrol we have our own "Kinofest"; it's the last September weekend but tickets are still €7,50 - wtf?! I mean, why bother with this little discount and not go the Germany way with 5€ tickets?! Really silly.

I’m not in Germany but I remember reading it somewhere. Also thanks for all the Germany/Austria numbers and analysis!

The first trend from insidekino.de - please take it with a big grain of salt. On the one hand the weather is still fine and it could be the last weekend with much sunshine which means the Germans will do everything else than go to the movies. OTOH this weekend is "Kinofest" (why not in a few weeks?!) with 5 Euro/ticket.

#1 Barbie 150k
#2 The Equalizer 3 125k
#3 Oppenheimer 75k
#4 Rehragout-Rendezvous 75k
#5 Enkel für Fortgeschrittene 55k
#6 Elemental 35k
#7 Meg 2 30k
#8 Jawan 25k

Second and third trend have come in, I'll just go directly with the last one. Pretty big changes now that the impact of Kinofest becomes a bit clearer: http://www.insidekino.com/News.htm

#1 The Equalizer 3 175k (up 50k from trend 2)

#1 Barbie 165k

#3 Oppenheimer 125k (up 40k from trend 2)

#4 Meg 2 65k

#5 Rehragout-Rendezvous 60k (only one down from earlier trends)

#6 Elemental 55k

#7 Enkel für Fortgeschrittene 65k (maybe this one is supposed to be 55k? it's listed behind the two above)
#8 Gran Turismo 35k
#9 Jawan 25k

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 seems to be at about 15k

Thanks to the Kinofest with cheap tickets, excellent holds (and increases for family movies, even Mario Bros. back in the charts) despite summery weather! It's rare to have 20 releases >10k at this point. Openers were disappointing, though … in Austria, without the Kinofest, numbers were much lower.

Next weekend: The biggest opener should be Branagh's 3rd Poirot adaption, A Haunting in Venice - maybe 3rd place is possible? No big other openers so holdovers should be fine, however, without Kinofest, expect some steep drops.
