Mechanic and Mother's Day 40k each ... what a weekend. Gruesome. I hope SS will recover. It doesn't seem to have bad WOM. Pets, which has good WOM and is later in it's run (plus a family movie) fell more.

Family movies usually get hurt worse by good weather than action/superhero films, so this isn't really an indication of word-of-mouth. But I hope that it recovers, too. Even with no increase on Saturday and Sunday it would be more than 200k for the weekend and less than 60% drop (excluding previews). And by the Way, I just recognized SS seems to be a very bad option as a shortcut...
IndustriousAngel
2nd trend for Germany not much better but at least SS is at 175k now (-65%, still horrible of course but Schweinskopf is dropping even harder)

If those numbers Suicide Squad:61,484/Thur+Frid=93,634 were true, how could the trend still say 175k?

Aristis
No big changes with the 3rd Trend Suicide Squad 175k NYSM2 85k Pets at 80k (-74%) now - which is the biggest change. Gets better the longer the weekend lasts. Edited August 28, 2016 by Aristis
Aristis
So, the Monday numbers are again better! Suicide Squad 195k (-61% without previews/-66%) Cume: 940k - BvS (1,53M) is still reachable! It does not seem SS has to bad WOM. Pets 95k (-69%) 2,875M, 2nd for the year! 4M will be tough... But it could double this weekends result if there is bad weather next weekend (it seems that weather will be good again though) It still has 1 month (It really is 1 - Dory starts 29th of September) until (hopefully) huge competition starts. NYSM 2 90k (NYSM1 had 112k admissions - not to bad with this weather) Jason Bourne 60k (-66%) The Mechanic 50k And this weekend, while it was the second lowest this year, is just 7% down compared to last year! el sid
Maybe Mark_G calculated with worst case multipliers, especially on Friday, and that's the reason why everything improved... Some other numbers: -The Shallows: 67.5k admissions (thereof 45k over the weekend) - not bad -I think The Mechanic 2 had no previews so 50k is not even so terrible -Pete's Dragon: sadly only 35k – maybe too much competition or too serious? -Mother's Day: 42.5k (thereof 17.5 out of previews) - really bad -Schweinskopf: 25/300 -IA5: 20/2715 As mentioned by Aristis the next weekend is said to be pretty warm and sunny again which makes me happy on the one hand. But I'm really curious what will happen when the first fall weekend comes. It can't take long anymore. IndustriousAngel
The most shocking number for me is Pete's Dragon ... there was not much publicity but hey, that's Disney we're dealing with, even if the original movie wasn't much of a blockbuster. Compared to the other Disney remakes from the last years (Alice, Cinderella, Jungle Book, Maleficent) this doesn't only pale in comparison, it virtually vanishes .... hell, the Tinkerbell movies open to 5x as many admissions or more! I really don't understand what we're seeing here.

Next weekend: French comedy Un homme à la hauteur; Ben Hur; Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates … Nothing here that could end the slump; weather is looking fine too so no recovery for family stuff either - expect another dreadful weekend.
Aristis
Birnenkuchen mit Lavendel The best PTA with an increase of 176%!!! Open Air? The Suicide Squad drop isn't that bad and its PTA is still good. I don't think WOM is too bad. Shoul have a good drop. But Pets is great! We feared a 80% drop, so this is really good. Connie & Co I don't like her... But the worst thing is TMNT2! PTA 29 - that is just disastrous... But why did Lights Out fall so hard? Should a movie targeting adults not have a better drop?

Maybe it lost many theaters/screens this week? I looked at filmstarts and there it says it is only #21 when it comes to theater counts (162 theaters). For example it lost its screens in mathäser because of all the (bad doing) new releases.

Yeah I looked it up and while last week it had 311 cinemas this weekend it were 196. But it lost 2/3 of its PTA too. TMNT2 will lose many cinemas next week... el sid
Maybe, just maybe, this weekend will not become such a disaster like the last one was. The estimates via insidekino.de (forum): New releases: Mike & Dave: 15k (ok) Ben Hur: 8k (not so good) Mein ziemlich kleiner Freund: 1k Most of the holdovers are doing much better than I thought: Now You See Me 2: 10.5k (last Thursday 15k) The Mechanic 2: 7k (10k) The Shallows: 5k (10k) Mother's Day: 3k (2.5k – so it increased if these numbers hold ) Suicide Squad: 32k (32k – it stayed flat???) Jason Bourne: 10k (15k) Schweinskopf all dente: 6.5k (6k - would be an increase too) Pets: 4.5k (evening only, 6k also evening only last Thursday) Edited September 1, 2016 by el sid
IndustriousAngel
Staying flat is not that difficult in Europe's weather-driven movie economy. After a horrible drop like last week's, even increases are commonplace.

IndustriousAngel
First weekend estimates: #1: SS - 185k admissions (-5%) #2: Pets - 135k (+35!, yeah!) #3: WeddingDates - 110k (including previews but #3 should be safe) #4: Bourne - 65k (+5%) #5: NYSM2 - 50k (-5%) Pets crosses 3mil and is now officially a blockbuster; Bourne has still chances at 1mil total Edited September 2, 2016 by IndustriousAngel
Aristis
BvS had about 125k-130k admissions on its third weekend - I think - and had 1,325M admissions. And if SS - after a 185k weekend - reaches 1,25M admissions, than it still can overtake BvS (1.533.202)
