A lot of people were interested in seeing the movie and WOM was great like other religious movies. But $21 million is really impressive! Oh I see, I didn't even know it came from a book. We won't know the exact number before tomorrow but it will be around R$18.5m Better than POTC4 (R$13.5m) but inflation strongly helped, in admissions it's likely to get a bit less. POTC4 grossed $30m but with the huge swing in exchange rates since then and Wonder Woman next week POTC5 won't reach $20m IMO. keysersoze123
it will be badly affected by Wonder Woman here as well. Both BvS and SS were super strong in Brazil. I would say 15m for Pirates.
Fullbuster
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 FINALLY CROSSED $20m, REACHING $20.5m! Remember : the first one grossed $16m with a far better exchange rate. GOTG2 is definitely a success in Brazil!

chrisman0606
For all the fuss about focusing how much a movie makes in Brazil in USD b/c of XR, I like the focus on the local currency aspect since movies gross more and records are broken, I known that their are several movies that have grossed over R$100 million in Brazil, but does any movie in the future have a chance at breaking one record which is grossing over R$200 million at the Brazilian box office?

I don't think R$200 million will happen for a while. I see Avengers 3 and 4 finishing in the R$160-70 million range. Maybe one of the Avatar sequels can do it?
