ThatWaluigiDude
The general director from Cinepolis Brazil reported that the expectations for 2024's box office is to be down 6% when compared to 2023, reasons for that is pessimism over Hollywood's movies next year and the difficult to reduce ticket prices due to the current situation. He noted that the strong lineup of brazilian movies could help avoid that. He also estimated that audience numbers should only recover to pre-pandemic levels by 2026. ThatWaluigiDude
Wonka opened on thursday with R$1.3M and 72.3k admissions. Thanksgiving opened with R$220k, 12.1k admissions Voo 375 opened with R$195k, 10k admissions. School break is starting now, what could lead to better-than-usual legs. Oh and Aquaman 2 started pre sales too.
ThatWaluigiDude
Weak start for Aquaman's pre sales. Better than The Marvels but similar to Blue Beetle (remider that BB was saved by outstanding WoM in the region). 1

Pretty good start for Wonka and anticipating the trend from the next few weeks of above usual legs and above usual multipliers now that school break have started in most of the country. Expect the weekdays to get a bit stronger too. Despite everything, 2023 was a good year for Warner in Brazil since from their 13 releases so far 6 released at 1st place (And Aquaman 2 will be no. 7). Napoleon and Hunger Games kept the strong legs and still managed to be really close to each other. Thanksgiving completely wiped All Fun and Games from the ranking. Next weekend will release Godzilla Minus One, Haunting of Queen Mary, The Mean One, Tá Escrito, Uma Carta Para o Papai Noel, Nutcracker and the Magic Flute and the Seventeen Tour (on saturday).

I've heard about the movie selling 50k tickets on the first week of pre-sales, however I only saw this being reported in one place and it was a fan page, so unfortunately I cannot confirm how accurate that is.

Still not the level you would want for DC/Marvel but absolutely selling faster than Blue Beetle and Marvels at that point. Right now I will say the movie for sure won't be the massive hit the first one was but it should make some good money. 2

ThatWaluigiDude
Mean Girls started the pre-sales a few days ago (In some big cities, not the whole country). For a movie still this far off, looking at it I can safely say it will be 2024's first breakout. Not too surprising though since the first movie does have a big cult following here.

Amazing hold for Wonka, helped by really strong WoM, it managed to pass 1 million admissions already. Godzilla Minus One had one of the best openings for a Sato Co. movie. Hunger Games have passed the admissions of the first movie (It passed the box office a while ago). Voo 375 is already the 4th best selling local movie of the year, meanwhile Tá Escrito bombed really hard, pushing an average of only 4 people for screening! Maybe now they will finally stop giving movies for youtubers...nah who am I kidding, Lucas Netto and Gato Galactico both have movies for 2024's first months... Next weekend releases Aquaman 2, Renaissance, The Quiet Girl, The Three Musketeers: Milady and Propriedade.

I was trying to be realistic with my prediction but holy crap that fell off the ground. Aquaman 2 made R$3.7M and 180k admissions on pre-sales, that was the best start for a comic book movie in 2023, above the first movie, GotG 3 and almost double of The Marvels. That however, could not translate to a record opening because sunday is christmas eve, usually that date is very weak for cinemas.
