Aquaman sold on thursday another R$3M and 150k tickets, down from the first movie that sold R$6.5M on their first thursday (though Aquaman 2 is being affected by the upcoming holiday, is still really solid).

Beyonce opened in 2nd with R$2.4M and 67.1k admissions. On the admissions, that is the best opening day for a concert movie ever, above Taylor Swift.

Thanks.  Taylor had only 3 days, right? Do you think Beyonce can gross as much as her for whole weekend?

This weekend, 811.5k tickets were sold and R$19.3M was made on the box office, up 13% from last weekend.

The trend from last year and the year before that repeated and box office was massively damaged by christmas. Money was made until friday, and on saturday theaters were dead. Because of that, potential for the Aquaman's opening was reduced by a lot and all of the movies saw huge drops. We should see good legs going forward though, next weekend is new year, last year on that period was pretty depressing with only one movie doing R$1M+ so we will see how this year will compare.

Renaissance had the best opening of all time for a concert movie in admits, on box office it came very close but missed Eras Tour by just R$150k.

Next weekend releases Lord of Misrule, Minha Irmã e Eu and Mamonas Assassinas.

Migration's release was moved up a bit and will now release next monday, january 1st.

This weekend's screen count:

-Mamonas Assassinas: 1034 screens

-Minha Irmã e Eu: 1017 screens

-Lor of Misrule: 130 screens

-Lie With Me: 5 screens

Fun fact, these first two are a record of most screens given to a brazilian movie. But that is not because there is a Marvel level expectation on neither but just because last weekend Aquaman took away screens for most movies and theaters have literally no other big release to give the end of the year screens (Aside from Migration, but that will miss the weekend).

Mid week (25-27 december) box office:

1) Aquaman 2: R$9.5M/ 527.4k admissions

2) Wonka: R$3.3M/ 192k admissions

3) Minha Irmã e Eu (pre-release): R$1.54M/ 90.1k admissions

4) Godzilla Minus One: R$518k/ 30.8k admissions

5) Napoleon: R$352k/ 13.3k admissions

All of the top 5 sold more tickets on the weekdays compared to the weekend, some earned more money too. Aquaman 2 already is above 1 million admissions, best week of release of DC this year, and Minha irmã e Eu had an excelent pre-release (from that 11k came from monday, a pretty big increase on tuesday and wednesday). I can't believe we waited to the very last week of the year to have at least one genuine brazilian hit...

Did a rundown on Google Trends on the 2024 movies, over the past few months, these is what it come up to me for the 2024's most searched releases, and some you probably would want to keep an eye on for the brazilian box office next year:

1) Inside Out 2

2) Kung Fu Panda 4

3) Deadpool 3

4) Furiosa

5) Dune 2

6) Kraven the Hunter

7) Madame Web

8 ) Planet of the Apes

9) O Auto da Compadecida 2

10) Gladiator 2

I will say, I am very surprise Sonic 3, Mean Girls and Garfield did not make the list but Gladiator 2 and Furiosa did.

Thursday (28 december) box office:

1) Aquaman 2: R$2.8M/ 143.6k admissions

2) Mamonas Assassinas: R$1.3M/ 73.3k admissions

3) Minha Irmã e Eu: R$1.2M/ 67.5k admissions

4) Wonka: R$1.17M/ 65k admissions

Aquaman and Wonka will probably increase this weekend compared to the last. Mamonas Assassinas had the best opening day for a brazilian movie since the pandemic.
