ThatWaluigiDude
Furiosa finished with exactly half of pre-sales of Planet of the Apes. A comp would give the opening day a R$1.1M. That said, I honestly would not think too hard on it, I feel walk-ins and WoM will be pretty good. Fury Road opened with R$10.2M for the weekend and honestly I do not thnk its impossible for Furiosa to reach that. Fury Road was a pretty big hit back in the day btw, so the IP does have good will in Brazil.

ThatWaluigiDude
Not the same as a Cinema Week, but Cinemark will be holding a discount next week, starting on the 27th, where tickets go down to R$12 and food combos go down in price too. Cinemark is currently the biggest chain in Brazil, though is not in every single city, obviously.

It will start now and go all the way until june 19th, excluding only fridays, saturdays and sundays and the next holiday on the 30th. It's a bit shocking because that means the release day of all movies for 4 weeks will be discounted on Cinemark, including possible previews of Inside Out 2.

So, days ago I made a comp for Furiosa's pre-sales and Planet of the Apes. I remained optimistic because I really thought WoM would come together, unfortunately the comp was mostly accurate. Furiosa opened bellow the R$10.6M for Fury Road, from the admissions side the fall was more brutal, down from 630k from Fury Road's opening. The opening at least remained above Blade Runner 2045 and the first Dune. There are possibility of legs, with the promotion from Cinemark and a extended holiday this week. On a positive note, IF and Garfield are both showing mighty legs, helped by the fact that until IO2 at the end of next month they remain alone as family content. Monkey Man was severely affected by piracy (horrible idea to release so late), Morando com o Crush and De Repente Miss, both with the same director and main actress, also failed to capture audience, two more local bombs to add to the list. As mentioned, this weekend will see a holiday on thursday, so many movies are opening on wednesday instead. We will see the release of Strangers Chapter 1, Immaculate, HAIKYU!, Meu Sangue Ferve por Você, The Chosen, The Good Mother, Magnificat, Terrestrial Verses and 1798. ThatWaluigiDude
Despite the opening, Furiosa had the second best release on Imax of the year. During the opening weekend it sold 14.8k admissions on Imax (behind only Dune 2's 30.4k), and 9 out of 10 of the most profitable individual screenings were Imax screenings.
ThatWaluigiDude
Took a look at the pre-sales for Immaculate on wednesday and it is looking pretty damn good. Better than Strangers, that btw are also looking good. Immaculate could start dreaming on becoming a surprise hit on Brazil.

ThatWaluigiDude
Inside Out 2 started it's pre-sales. First day sold 3.5x of what Little Mermaid sold on it's first day, even though Inside Out 2 started the pre-sales much, much sooner. The holiday have been crazy good for Garfield and IF. Selling out screenings like crazy. And Immaculate is absolutely on the way to make Brazil one of it's biggest territories. ThatWaluigiDude
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will be re-released on the 4th. Ingresso.com reported that the movie had the best single day of pre-sales of any movie in 2024. 2
ThatWaluigiDude
The holiday yesterday made the day have an increase of +240% over the last thursday. Yesterday Planet of the Apes went back to the top with R$2.2M on thursday, and 102k admissions. Furiosa after it with 77k admissions (It have now passed the 500k admissions) and IF in third, with the best average per screening from the top 10. ThatWaluigiDude
Now Cinepolis have joined the party and from today to june 5th will also be offering discounted tickets. Now two big chains in Brazil will be cheaper. Difference is, with Cinepolis the promotion will work during the weekend and on premium screens, and some select theaters will go even cheaper with tickets priced at R$8

Thanks to the holiday on thursday and two chains holding promotions, we had an espectacular weekend, with Apes rising and coming back on top and becoming the top 2024 movie (Outside Aquaman 2), and IF and Garfield having massive increases. The third weekend of IF was better than the opening weekend, absolutely insane. Not taking away credit for Garfield, almost matching its opening too 5 weeks after release . Immaculate as predicted overperformed and had the best opening for a horror this year, Strangers disapointed a little and Haikyu had a good start for an anime with frankly a pretty uninviting title for brazilian audiences. Good stuff all around. Next, the re-release of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban tomorrow only, with midnight screens today (Expect big numbers btw), and on thursday Bad Boys Ride or Die, The Watchers, Poolman, Grande Sertão, Hitman, Naughty Girl and the re-release of 9 1/2 Weeks. 1

ThatWaluigiDude
15 days to the release, pre-sales for Inside Out 2 are almost tied to the final day for Little Mermaid. Reminding that is not common for animated movies to sell a lot on pre-sales on Brazil even when the movie opens big, Inside Out 2 is on the way to a very huge performance in Brazil.
