ThatWaluigiDude
Coraline made R$604k and 30.2k admissions on the first day of re-release. Is almost 2.5x the movie's original release day. Insane. Romulus made R$900k OD. Edited August 16 by ThatWaluigiDude 1

It did around R$2.2M on thursday so it is looking like a healthy drop on the second weekend.

Romulus opened above Covenant by around R$400k and above Twisters by R$250k. The opening is decent and that is it pretty much. Like the predecessor is not setting brazilian box offices on fire...but is good enough. On admissions though is less good, bellow Covenant and Prometheus. Coraline's re-release on the other hand, was so big it actually managed to make exactly what the original release did on the whole run! Back in the day the movie bombed with an R$860k opening. Despite the re-release being announced for last weekend only, there are some screenings left for the mid-week, though no words yet if the run will be extended. It Ends With Us is starting to show its true legs and should pass Anyone But You next weekend. Trap have passed the total of Old and will pass Knock at the Cabin the next few days, Borderlands had the worst drop from a blockbuster this year and Princesa Adormecida became yet another huge local bomb. Next weekend releases Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Crow, Kinds of Kindness, Blink Twice, Deep weeb Murdershow, Widow Clicquot, Captive, Entrelinhas and Favela do Papa. 4
ThatWaluigiDude
It Ends With Us made R$1.1M on monday, 50k admissions. Now it only needs to do R$2M more to enter this year's top 10, kicking Dune 2 out of the list. Romulus made 12.3k admissions on Imax screens, making it the 5th best Imax opening of the year (behind IO2, Dune 2, D&W and Furiosa). Coraline will be extended for the next weekend.

ThatWaluigiDude
Did not had the time to run comps yesterday, but here is some quick comps for The Crow: Romulus: R$570k Borderlands: R$600k Civil War: R$670k All pointing out to an OW on the R$3M-4M range. Is not doing that bad actually, pre-sales were decently above Borderlands, bad reviews could hurt though.
ThatWaluigiDude
MID-WEEK BOX OFFICE (19-21 AUGUST): 1) It Ends With Us: R$5M/ 240k admissions 2) D&W: R$3.15M/ 150k admissions 3) Alien Romulus: R$1.9M/ 92.44k admissions 4) Coraline: R$350k/ 25.4k admissions Today the walk-ins for The Crow looked meh and Harold also looked meh. Don't be surprised if no numbers are reported tomorrow for these two. 2 1

All the new releases failed to bring the audiences, as The Crow had a 3rd place launch with less than half of the opening from Romulus, last weekend. Harold was a spectacular failure, earning slightly less than even Borderlands. To be fair, Sony did send this movie to die, canceling the pre-release and the marketing plan events. The director Carlos Saldanha kinda got alone into advertizing the movie to his brazilian fans on his social networks. At least legs should be much better than Borderlands. For the 3rd time in a row, It Ends With Us found himself at the top. It have passed the total from Anyone But You and it is now the 6th best selling movie of the year. Inside Out 2 in bellow R$1M for the first time in its insane 10 weeks on the top 10 while Despicable Me 4 surprisingly had the best average per screen from the top 10. Next weekend the first 3 Harry Potter movies will be re-release, again, in both separate form and on maraton screenings.
