I'm not sure, but I think it's because at some point between the two movies our local industry changed the official weekend from Friday-Sunday to Thursday-Sunday. So when Breaking Dawn 2's Thursday was considered previews and not counted for the weekend.

I was thinking the same, but if that's really what it is(not sure still) then surely it's fair to say Breaking Dawn p2 opened bigger?

Cool info! Just to point that Mexico is the biggest market in terms of revenue and attendance in Latin America.

http://www.statista.com/statistics/252730/leading-film-markets-worldwide--gross-box-office-revenue/

As usual, some movies do better in BR, others in MX.

Indeed. I knew but when I wrote that 2 years ago these 2 markets were mostly neck-and-neck and given its much bigger population (Brazil 205m people vs Mexico 120m) I was convinced Brazil would be ahead soon enough, I didn't expect Brazil to be hit by such a violent economic crisis...

Can't work that way, it's statistically dangerous and confusing. BD2 got a 3-day OW, that is seen that way because it was like that back then.  That's all.

That CW number is with the midnight previews, though. Since BVS previews were at 8/9PM they don't count, but it did 2,633,734 with those.

I know but I cannot make any exception, midnight previews must be non-consequential in Brazil anyway.

BVS is still ahead of Ultron, it's a huge performance in itself.

Oh by the way, I posted this last week :

BIGGEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME IN LOCAL CURRENCY

1- The Avengers 2 : R$146m

2- Fast&Furious 7 : R$142m

3- The Avengers : R$130m

4- Batman vs Superman : R$129m

5- Minions : R$120m

6- Os Dez Mandamentos - O Filme : R$116m

7- Star Wars 7 : R$109m

8- Tropa de Elite 2 : R$103m

9- Avatar : R$102m

10- Twilight BD2 : R$101m

But BVS's run is not over yet and it officially passed The Avengers, becoming the third biggest movie ever in local currency! We have this now :

BIGGEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME IN LOCAL CURRENCY

1- The Avengers 2 : R$146m

2- Fast&Furious 7 : R$142m

3 - Batman vs Superman : R$130.6m

4- The Avengers : R$129.6m

5- Minions : R$120m

6- Os Dez Mandamentos - O Filme : R$116m

7- Star Wars 7 : R$109m

8- Tropa de Elite 2 : R$103m

9- Avatar : R$102m

10- Twilight BD2 : R$101m

However The Avengers is still well ahead in admissions (10.9m vs 8.4m), BVS benefited from the strong inflation of ticket prices these last 4 years.

Brazilians have now spent a huge US$28,800,000 in Civil War tickets!

So it officially passed The Winter Soldier in $ :)

In local currency it's even more impressive : CA TWS got R$62.8m there but CA CW is around R$99m right now, it's far ahead. Next week it should pass BVS.

Well, thanks to the good news for the US economy the value of the USD started to increase so the Real is losing value again, the ousting of Dilma didn't affect the currency yet, investors probably wait to see more  from the new president.
