AUGUST 15-18 WEEKEND.

1. It Ends with Us -
 $58.4M/$140.7M (+17.74%)
2. Alien: Romulus - $50.9M
3. Coraline (Re-issue) - $49.1M
4. Deadpool & Wolverine - $31.8M/$768.8M (-49.36%)
5. El Candidato Honesto - $19.5M/$67.9M (-42.65%)
6. Despicable Me 4 - $16.9M/$789.7M (-26.52%)
7. Mothers' Instinct - $7.8M
8. Trap - $5.6M/$28.1M (-65%)
9. Tim Burton Cycle - $4.9M
10. Late Night with the Devil - $4.4M/$49.8M (-60.36%)

At the end it was It Ends with Us the one that took the top spot this weekend after a healthy increase from its opening frame. After strong weekdays too is now headed for high 200s but could very well top $300M. One of the biggest stories this year; will easily ougross Twisters and Dune Part II.

Alien: Romulus delivers the best opening for the franchise in lc and should finish somewhere arounf $120M if it follows both Prometheus and Covenant. With a positive reception and an empty slate could aim higher.

As for another surprise; Coraline's re-release pulls off the best opening weekend for any re-issue. In admissions surpassed Alien and its PSA was nearly triple of those of Alien and It Ends with Us which basically meant full sold-out shows throughtout the weekend; it's the second best Per Screen Average for anything over 500 screens this year only below Inside Out 2.

Current biggest re-release ever is Titanic which has amassed $112.6M across both the 3D and the 25th anniversary re-issues and behind there are 1994's The Lion King ($85M) and The Exorcist ($83.2M). If Coraline can hold another week then could sneak into the Top 3 territory.

Deadpool & Wolverine has lost ground on both weekdays and weekends now falling behind Love & Thunder dailies despite an opening over $100M bigger. Now looking to finish close to mid 800s and above Multiverse of Madness.

Despicable Me 4 has a final week before return to school next Monday but still will manage to pass $800M by the time that happens. Out of the Top 10, Inside Out 2 continues to let go theaters and now at $1.866B looking to cross $1.87B as a final goal.

Wonderful Monday for all of them; respectively looks like $200M by Sunday, at least second biggest re-release ever if it gets another weekend and biggest title in the Alien franchise.

Coraline is staying for another week and in some theaters is moving to the largest auditoriums and expanding to more locations.

Still going too strong on weekdays; was expecting to catch it today but is packed on theaters near me like it was a weekend. Didn't mentioned it but is exclusive to Cinepolis.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice started well on sales. Social media and awareness metrics tracking above those of Wonka, Dune II and War for the Planet of the Apes so while doesn't seem like record-breaking at the moment, it does look safe for an opening as high as mid-100s.

~3M admissions in 2001 is massive!  Was the movie a huge hit there in its initial release?

There's very few pre-1998 tracked data, but I say it did well since horror and supernatural is a big seller.

AUGUST 22-24 WEEKEND.

1. It Ends with Us -
$36.9M/$202.4M (-36.82%)
2. Alien: Romulus - $34M/$104,5M (-33.2%)
3. Coraline (Re-issue) - $33.2M/$109.9M (-32.38%)
4. Deadpool & Wolverine - $15M/$794.9M (-52.83%)
5. Despicable Me 4 - $10.2M/$807M (-39.64%)
6. El Candidato Honesto - $9.4M/$85M (-51.79%)
7. Blink Twice - $8.1M
8. The Crow - $6.8M
9. Caras Vemos - $5.7M
10. Mother's Instinct - $3.4M/14.7M (-56.41%)

As all newcomers completely underperform or outright bomb, but the Top 3 gets the best holds this week. It Ends with Us which is still aiming to finish somewhere o/u $280M; it may end up outgrossing Bad Boys.

Romulus gets an spectacular hold for the franchise and soon will become its highest grossing film looking to finish past $170M; that would translate to a franchise best in admissions too.

After a massive opening; Caroline's re-release has showed a strong staying power and while isn't known how much longer will keep playing; weekdays will do enough to ensure it as the highest grossing re-release ever surpassing Titanic's previous re-issues combined.

Despicable Me 4 is close to beat Rise of Gru as the franchise champ as kids schools are now back to school; so may take some time. Deadpool & Wolverine is a bit behind it and close to surpass $800M but without much gas left in the tank looks like a close call to top Multiverse of Madness.

Ouch for The Crow. It was a large enough release, about 900 screens... probably affected by terrible reviews.

Unless there is a year-end surprise (I'm looking at you, Joker), could be the first time that the #1 film of the year (IO2) grosses twice as much as #2 (DM4), No Way Home pandemic anomaly excluded.

It’s not like anyone saw Inside Out 2s massive total coming. I doubt anything could reach its total. Or even get close. How close was 2023 and 2022?

Warner is one of the two major studios missing its first $1B grosser and things were on its favour for Barbie to be it but it had to settle for $900M. Folie a Deux could pull it off despite a decline in admissions from first Joker but it requieres a decent WOM. Let's see how Venice boosts interest once again and if local censor doesn't surprise us once again like it did for D&W.

Moana 2 announcement came a bit out of nowhere so anticipation is less built-in and therefore somewhat harder to track, but it can become another unexpected massive hit.

While I'm not expecting any of them to go anywhere close to Inside Out 2, they could break that 50% of it.

It's insane , apart of 2022, he has got always a animated movie on the top 2.

Shrek 5 might be the second movie to do 100m+ in Mexico alone i am not anticipating Avengers 5 to do that unless it is great
