Purple Minion
I think it's a combination of the market (SciFi is not too popular and not a family magnet either) and the December release (shorter holiday time compared with Summer blockbusters ). But I was still expecting more. Reports: TFA up to $25.2M on Wednesday. Edited January 7, 2016 by Purple Minion

Purple Minion
At last, weekly numbers! Solid OD for Revenant, pity about the ER.
Purple Minion
Weekend stats. Either Revenant was underestimated or studio is using a different ER, it didn't reach US$5M. Still the #2 movie of 2016 just behind Point Break. Danish Girl doing quite well considering its subject. The rest of top 10 is quite weak, so much that there's 3 re-entries. Purple Minion
Good weekday hold for The Revenant. The BO may remain flat until KPF3 is released in March, unless Deadpool breaks out.
Purple Minion
Weekend estimates (BoxOffice.com, Deadline) Daddy's Home: US$2.1M, #1, Paramount's biggest opening for a comedy. The Revenant: US$2.1M, #2, total US$9.21M. Fifth Wave: US$1.7M, similar to Maze Runner and Divergent. Creed: US$1M. Monday is a holiday so weekly figures should be solid. Purple Minion
CANACINE is reporting a 4-day weekend, Monday was Constitution Day and a Bank Holiday. Daddy's Home at #1, nice OW for Fifth Way and not so nice for Creed. Solid holds for Revenant, Danish Girl, Chipmunks and Snoopy, terrible drop by Point Break. TFA nowhere to be seen. What a disappointment. Edited February 2, 2016 by Purple Minion

Giesi
What's the reason for TFA's relativ "underperformance" in Mexico? I thought the country eats everything up that's popular in the US?
Purple Minion
Shorter legs because of Winter release date, and guess audiences didn't find it too family friendly (#1 catalyst). Sci Fi is not a natural sell in Mexico, even Avatar didn't perform as well as in other markets.

Purple Minion
Numbers of the week!. The Boy doing well, almost $4M. Deadpool should win the weekend although with the lowest ER ever. Again.
Purple Minion
Great numbers for Deadpool, #17 3-day OW of all time in lc. ER is awful so nothing to write home about in USD. Local movie Busco novio... opens strong at #2. Danish Girl still in the Top 10.
Purple Minion
Another week passes by, Deadpool on its way to US$20M but may lose the crown to Zootopia, which should do fine since it has wacky animated characters. Also ER improved 8% in the last days. If my calculations are correct, this is the Top 10 so far (in lc) released in 2016: 01 211,786,679 Revenant 02 184,018,200 Deadpool 03 130,323,935 Alvin 4 04 123,014,389 Daddy's Home 05 93,224,073 Break Point 06 82,257,306 5th Wave 07 77,760,424 Concussion 08 73,917,987 The Boy 09 61,408,327 Danish Girl 10 44,183,168 Solace Edited February 22, 2016 by Purple Minion

Deadpool: #2, $13.4M total, closer to the top than I thought. HTBS: Meh $0.57M OW, although higher than Bridesmaids and Trainwreck. Room: $262K in 120 screens.
