Carlangonz
As today don't see much danger for Coco facing Ragnarok. PS for the Thor threquel are pretty weak, on par with GOTG 2 ($153M) so i expect $170M-$180M 4-Day OW for the Marvel film and about a 55% drop for Coco fueled by a massive Wednesday

Carlangonz
OCTOBER 27-29 WEEKEND. COCO TOPS WITH SOME RECORDS, HDD IS THE NEW VICTIM OF THE CINEPOLIS-UNIVERSAL COLD RELATIONSHIP Coco Let's talk about the records broken by the new Pixar animation inspired by mexican culture: - Biggest opening for an October release - Biggest opening for an original film (and obvioulsly, for an original animation) Also joined some other Tops: - 2nd biggest Fall launch behind It - 3rd highest opening for a Disney animation - 6th biggest OW for an animation - #18 among All-Time openers Now, how high will Miguel and Dante go? Pixar animations usually have long legs, with a few exceptions: Finding Dory (2.5x), Cars 3 (2.7x) and some others. Being an original property and facing strong competition on the upcoming weeks we could use Inside-Out as a comparison. Let's see many scenarios: - Toy Story 3 scenario. $700M - Inside-Out scenario. $625M - Monsters University scenario. $555M - Cars 3 scenario. $485M - Finding Dory scenario. $460M With a very positive reaction from GA and a holiday coming this weekend the MU scenario seems the most realistic but with no animations coming and JL suffering from the Cinépolis' backlash we may see a higher number. Happy Death's Day - $50M is the best case scenario for this one. It had a terrific social media campaign but it all gone with the Cinépolis-Uni fight, seems that Universal is having a worst time than Cinépolis # MOVIE WEEKEND % CHANGE TOTAL (MXN) TOTAL (USD) ADM. Carlangonz
So a boosted Thu will make Ragnarok a bit more frontloaded, still has a strong shot for $200M+ Forecast is $190M-$200M. Coco it's on its way to $400M+ this weekend. $500M is locked.
Carlangonz
Just to compare: Yesterday Ragnarok opened with $57.1M while Coco did $54.3M. Will be very exciting if Coco keeps that way, my only concern is that it doesn't have enough screens to satisfy demand, for example: my local theatre had 10 showtimes for afternoon and night sold-out since midday. redgarlic68
This is unbelievable... I mean, my local cinema was chock full of people... Who went to watch Coco. Honestly, yesterday (dat of the dead) it was almost impossible to find a screen during the day for Coco, and the screens for Thor were at most half full. I know it's impossible for it to increase from OW, but I wish it did. Beautiful movie too, already watched it (and cried) twice.
