The Visual Effects Branch Executive Committee determined the shortlist. All members of the Visual Effects Branch will be invited to view excerpts and interviews with the artists from each of the shortlisted films on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Branch members will vote to nominate five films for final Oscar consideration. CoolioD1 Posted February 22 Share Posted February 22 The Creator is obviously the achievement of the year in this category I guess the only thing holding it back is the fact that basically nobody cares about that movie and a bunch of Academy members probably won't even watch it. That's why best picture nominees usually win when they're nominated. Like Poor Things won the BAFTA and would probably take this if it was nominated.
