Deadline's now reporting $74.6M for Twisters and is even saying "What's to stop this movie from getting $80M?

Again, it's gonna be really hard to do so (it has to be really strong today), but whether it does it or not, a near $75M opening for Twisters is still fantastic.

Don't care if it's not an original, the box office is thriving!

Twisters pretty much locked to hit $200m domestic with that opening. Thinking with the positive audience reception it should manage better legs than Jason Bourne, and it's still an unknown imo if it will actually be hit hard by Deadpool next week the way a lot of people are quick to assume it will be.

After Top Gun Maverick and Twisters are there any other potential sequels that appeals to rural areas?

There are Officer and a Gentleman and Backdraft remakes in the works

My friend watched every movie at the cinema and he's always so easily pleased. He text me this morning saying 'longlegs was awful, don't watch it'

Seems to be a common theme that well reviewed horrors tend to be bad

Can't think like that... Given the internal multiple for it's opening weekend, weekday numbers and likely sub-50% drop this current weekend, word of mouth overall for Longlegs seems pretty strong. Of course, not everyone is gonna like it though.

This and The Bikeriders both falling off the face of the Earth after their underwhelming openings even though WOM for neither is terrible (though not great at the same time) goes to show how much total indifference towards a movie can break it.

If you don't even hate a movie enough to tell your friends not to see it, then there's no real "word of mouth" factor at all. Passionate negative reactions at least can inspire a certain reverse psychology effect.

Maybe another National Treasure? Does that play well in midwest. No doubt Cage would do it.
