Fullbuster
Box office France after three month (january, february and march) 2010 : 58.1 Million admissions2011 : 53.3 M2012 : 50.2 M2013 : 47.1 M Woah, what a drop It's impressive given this market was pretty resistant these last years...I guess the crisis is partly responsible, this year it's particularly tough, more than 2012. jerem4502
Yes and no. 13 films over a million admissions. 1 . DJANGO UNCHAINED : 4 226 6692 . BOULE ET BILL : 1 962 6613 . DIE HARD : BELLE JOURNEE POUR MOURIR : 1 824 3304 . HOTEL TRANSYLVANIE : 1 661 8425 . JAPPELOUP : 1 613 7446 . LE MONDE FANTASTIQUE D'OZ : 1 454 9777 . 20 ANS D'ECART : 1 333 5178 . LINCOLN : 1 319 1149 . ALCESTE A BICYCLETTE : 1 131 33910 . VIVE LA FRANCE : 1 100 45711 . MOBIUS : 1 084 41512 . HAPPINESS THERAPY : 1 062 97113 . PAULETTE : 1 020 709 It's normal. By cons, only 1 film over 2 million admissions. It's not normal. 2010 : on three month : 16 films over a million admissions. But : 1 . ALICE AU PAYS DES MERVEILLES : 4 530 5322 . LA PRINCESSE ET LA GRENOUILLE : 3 840 2213. L'ARNACOEUR : 3 736 2534. SHUTTER ISLAND : 3 113 1535 . INVICTUS : 3 110 3946 . OCEANS : 2 865 0067. LA RAFLE : 2 851 1228 . DRAGONS : 2 313 5299 . SHERLOCK HOLMES : 2 143 123 9 films over 2 million admissions. + Avatar release in 2009, but 8 or 9 million admissions in 2010. But after this three month, the box office was not good, not bad. 2011 was an exceptionnel year for the french films (The Artist, the intouchables, Rien à déclarer, Polisse...). The beginning year was dominate by rien à déclarer with 8 million admissions. 1 . RIEN A DECLARER : 8 150 8252 . LE DISCOURS D'UN ROI : 3 024 3223 . BLACK SWAN : 2 617 0324 . LES FEMMES DU 6EME ETAGE : 2 213 187 And 15 films over a million admssions. 2012 it's bad also, but 2013 is worst. So why ? Because, no French film has managed to establish itself at box office. Many disappointments. Large failures for certain films. Because the quality was poor and the films simply not interesting. But, same the american films are disappointments. Exception Django, but otherwise, nothing exceptionnel. The Worst is for Les Miserables 218 983 admissions only. I expected 3 million admissions. Les Miserables... adaptation of the work of Victor Hugo, even if it's a musical. In France Victor Hugo it's like Shakespeare in UK, I think. I don't understand. The crises are a solution, but not only. The quality also. But we will see in the coming months. French aren't very fond of musicals, and it was sung in English with French subtitles so I guess it wasn't appealing for a lot of people, in France we're pretty bad at foreign languages... jerem4502
The two films are so different, that the public will not be the same. I hope a big success for L'écume des jours, director Michel Gondry with a very large French cast:Audrey Tautou (Amelie, Da vinci code, l'auberge Espagnole...),Romain Duris (Arsène Lupin, l'auberge Espagnole, l'arnacoeur...),Gad Elmaleh (Chouchou, La rafle, Hors de prix...),Omar Sy (Intouchables...)Alain Chabat (Astérix, le Marsupilami...)...Now the film is very special, success is not sure.
