Rsyu
So it looks like I am visiting the cinema 3 maybe 4 times max between now and the end of the year Sounds sensible, which ones are they? I plan to see Annabelle, interstellar, Exodus & Hobbit3 for certain. Maybe fury too if it gets a good reaction. Undecided on boyhood. I only watch local films if it gets good word of mouth, so maybe just one or two local films before the end of the year.

Rsyu
Tazza 2 rebounds out of nowhere. It's admissions is higher but gross is lower than the film below it. What this basically means is that the studio is handing out free tickets in an effort to push the film over 4 million admissions. It's a pretty cheap stunt and it's well known that many local films that have over 10 million admissions used a similar tactic.
Rsyu
Largest Cinema in Asia opens in Jamsil Seoul, South Korea Lotte Cinema world tower opened today (October 15th) and it becomes the largest cinema in Asia with a total of 21 screens and 4600 seats. It boasts the SUPER PLEX G screen, which is a new Guiness record for the largest screen in the world (34m across, 13.8m high), the largest 4D auditorium (SUPER 4D) in Korea and also the first 4K quad projector system in Asia as well as the best sound system technology around (Dolby ATMOS). All in all very cutting edge stuff. It is the centrepiece to the building 'lotte tower' and is being dubbed as the "art movie city", a concept that is reinforced by all the special auditoriums available on each floor which all has it's own unique interior design concept. The SUPER PLEX G auditorium in particular can hold up to 622 people and is divided into 2 floors giving it the feel of an opera theatre. The SUPER 4D also hold 220 people making it the largest 4D auditorium in Korea. The 4K quad projector uses twice the resolution of 2K used in digital screens with double the pixels giving allowing for a much clearer image. I'm not sure what the definition of 'largest' hinges on, the news reports fail to mention it. Maybe it's based on seats? How many seats does the theatres with +21 auditoriums in Israel hold? It may also rely a little on the definition of 'Asia' too, which can sometimes throw up interesting scenarios where Asia apparently begins at India, or even China. Will be interesting to see what the ticket prices are. Also Kudos to Lotte for taking the unusual route of opening such a behemoth just in time for the end of cinema season

As for the opening date, every day they delay opening, it's costing them a fortune in revenue. They've recieved a lot of accusation from the media and society in general that they rushed in the construction process so I think this is really the earliest possible date they could have opened. Now all it takes is one accident and it's bye bye lotte Edited October 15, 2014 by Rsyu

Rsyu
True. Is it not also the tallest building in Korea as well now, or was that another thing that's planned/in progress? The one and only. Lotte had to get a special building permit to reroute the plane flight path because there was a danger of collision. Right now that tower (main building) is only half finished in construction, really shows how desperate lotte was to open this thing. I made a quick visit today and most of the stores weren't ready to open yet.
Rsyu
Multiplex theatres in Korea These are the three biggest Multiplex theatre chains in Korea. MEGABOX Number of theatres: 67 Total number of screens: 478 Total number of seats: 75,138 Biggest theatre: Megabox COEX -16 screens -3,500 seats CGV Number of theatres: 127 Total number of screens: 980 Total number of seats: 161,407 Biggest theatre: CGV Incheon -14 screens -3,390 seats Lotte Cinema Number of theatres: 127 Total number of screens: 809 Total number of seats: 133,332 Biggest theatre: Lotte Cinema World Tower -21 screens -4,600 seats All in all, including drive in theatres, there are a total of 796 theatres in Korea. Out of these 189 have been shut down and another 65 is temporarily closed leaving 542 active theatres. The three multiplex chains above account for 59.22% of all nationwide theatres. The percentage in screens and seats is much much higher. Edited October 15, 2014 by Rsyu

How many seats does the theatres with +21 auditoriums in Israel hold? Seats does make sense, as far as I can tell the largest theatre in Israel has 26 screens and 4000 seats. There are another couple of theatres with 23 screens, but they probably have less than 4600 seats.
Hernan Gonzalez
I though the largest cinema complex was in Madrid. I am not saying that we are giving a good use to such a large complex but here it is "Kinepolis Madrid opened in Spain on 17 September 1998; it is the world's largest cinema complex and has a total seating capacity of 9,200 with 25 screens, each seating between 211 and 996 people." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiplex_(movie_theater)
