fishstick
I think if Silver Linings breaks out, she has to be considered. She is already doing better then Megan Fox. Fox had a new movie from writer of Juno right after Cody's Oscar win and epically failed. Lawrence opened what should have been a DTV horror film to double Jennifer's Body. Why is JL compared to Megan Fox? JL is certainly on her way to ebcome a real draw, something that KK and Scar-Jo totally FAILED to do and yet some amateurs put them on A List. :rofl:JL isn`t A list yet but neither is anyone save maybe 10 people tops. The Toymaker
Heigl is not A-list.Cage used to be A-list, but is not anymore.Lawrence is not A-list.Come on guys, these are obvious.I'm not even entertaining the idea that Emma Watson is A-list. That's such a joke.
The Toymaker
Angelina Jolie is the only true A-list actress. But I'm happy for Sandra Bullock and Cameron Diaz to be called A-list too. I would also still call Julia Roberts an A-list actress. She doesn't appear in as much these days as in previous decades, but her profile is huge and she is still a big named star. All of the others are very popular actresses, but not A-list. Jennifer Anniston is very popular (she is probably the next best to be added to the list), as is Natalie Portman and Charlize Theron. We could call them lower-level A-list, I suppose. Nicole Kidman used to be that, but isn't even lower-level anymore. Heigl wasn't and is never going to be A-list until she gets some acting behind her. Scarlet Johansson is not A-list because, well, she's just not. She can't act and besides being in Iron Man 2 and The Avengers, what has she done? She wasn't and isn't the attraction in anything. Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley are not A-list. Most people do not even know who Anne Hathaway is, apart from Batman fans and Princess Diaries' target demo. Adam Sandler dressed up in drag is more of an A-list actress than Anne Hathaway. So, here is the A-list actress list (in no order): 1. Angelina Jolie 2. Cameron Diaz 3. Julia Roberts 4. Sandra Bullock
A Marvel Fanboy
Julia Roberts is probably no more A-lister.

A Marvel Fanboy
Keira Knightley isn`t a certified A list or any A list. Please, enough with bias. A list is very VERY short and it means that actors from that list are top of every director`s list regardless of whether they actually end up in those roles. So Adam Sandler definitely isn`t an A list. A list isn`t just boxoffice but is really more about prestige. You Knightley fanboys are the most annoying people ever. She can`t open an ice tea on a hot summer day let alone a movie and her previous role was LAUGHED AT and she isn`t considered either a great actress or a star power. Her AK reviews are good but not OMG Ah-mazing like those that Lawrence is getting for SLP, for example. Manhola Dargis hated her in AK and thinks she`s miscast and pretty much every review that likes or dislkies her says that AK is a Costume + Art Direction movie. Costumes and Art Direction STEAL the movie from your overrated "A-lister". There. Please do the homework. Whatever your prestige is, saying Adam Sandler is not A-lister is laughable. lol. He is the King of Comedy. When super star Depp or TC flops, he doesnot.
The Toymaker
LOL.Jennifer Lawrence is 22 years old. This isn't the music industry, you know. There's no way JL will be an A-lister before she's 30, at the very least. And having the highest paid tag does not mean A-list recognition. People do not view Heigl as A-list, meaning that she cannot sell a movie on her own. Whereas someone like Jolie can. People also do not really know who Heigl is, whereas everybody knows who Roberts and Diaz are, because they've been around for a longer time and thus have earned their A-list status with success. Heigl is too immature.

A Marvel Fanboy
So main standards should be considered for being an A-lister:1. Box office: excellent and steady record without too much flops ?2. Earnings: paid more than 10M for being in big movies ?3. Popularity: solid public awarness and reputation ?4. Awards: Academy / Golden Globe / other major winnings or nominations ?5. Industry power: studios ratings and being excutive producers ?Thoughts ? The Toymaker
firedeep, you have to remember that A-list is a very short list. So when you are thinking of non-entities like Kristen Stewart and Miley Cyrus, keep in mind the length of the list. No more than 10 really, otherwise it devalues the point of the A-list. Just saying. It has been 10 years and the A list has not changed it seems. Amazing. Edited October 7, 2012 by firedeep
The Toymaker
It does take time to get into the A-list. However, if it was early 2000s, names like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Hanks, Nicolas Cage, John Travolta, Eddie Murphy, Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Jack Black and Mel Gibson would be on it, but they are not anymore, so my list has moved with the times. The only thing that my list has done is not included people that have had success with one movie, ala Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Ryan Gosling etc. I'm sorry, but one year of fame does not equate into being an A-list actor. It needs to be earned.
fishstick
Firedeep, you have no clue what you are talking about. A-list isn`t about boxoffice or how much actors are paid. It`s about how much they are in demand as the top choice for most directors and studios. This is a combination of boxoffice and prestige. So you anbd other Adam Sandler loonies who don`t have Meryl Streep and DDL on A-list are laughable. Sandler movies are shit because nobody offers him anything better. So he may be the King of Comedy but A-list he isn`t because nobody but shit slapstick producers care to have him on board. Which is sad because he is actually talented.Cate Blanchett is more A-list because she is constantly in demand for prestigeous projects and also has LOTR/TH and Indy 4 on her resume so she isn`t avoided by tent-poles either. Can`t open a movie for shit but that really doesn`t matter because most actors can`t.Also, your A-list is WAY too long. Real A-list is very short and it isn`t made public. Even industry people kinda guess who is on it but may not be 100% sure. And your precious KK isn`t disputed by me, she isn`t A-list PERIOD by any standard mention in this discussion. Lets see:Can`t she open a movie? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!Is she among highest paid actresses? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!Is she consistently acclaimed? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!Is she top of director`s list for most presigeous projects?NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!has her tentpole been stolen from her by her co-star who was considered a boxoffice poison and has he become the face of that franchise that was supposedly about KK character? YES!Is Anna Karenina primarily seen as Costume and Art Direction movie and is it said that costume and art direction steal the show and dominate? YES!So you are exposed. Your agenda isn`t to really discuss A-list but push your favorites. Edited October 7, 2012 by fishnets
