A 450m 2nd weekend ! second biggest 2nd wkn ever, only behind FF7's record 560m, which opened on a Sunday. out of speech.

I am afraid ZOO will have normally high 75~80% drop coming Monday, compared with this Sunday. It got to normalize at some point ... this Monday's drop of only 50% was abnormal for animation: for this week, it dropped like a (very well-received) live action film but increased like a (very well-received) animated film, such good 'luck'.

It needs to hit 140~150m next Sat to put 2B in the sight.

Going to be close to 200m

Next thing to watch is how close it holds to flat tomorrow. With more shows and WOM spreading it could be close. Then Mondays number compared Thursday will be interesting.

Was thinking 450m Friday to thursday. Now it looks like weekend could be close to that. Nearly 600m for the week.  950m total on thursday. That locks 1.6b.

2B a possibility, let's see how the week plays out. Will need to hold -33% next weekend for that to happen

It's gonna be close and Sunday is already looking very strong with over 17M+ in presales. I love these WOM driven runs!!!

Gee, turns out ZOO China second weekend gross (450m yuan = $69m) is farily close to its NA opening weekend !

ZOO's phenomenal performance in China will certainly shock Hollywood.  HLW studios will soon start to study ZOO to make animated flicks more favorable to Chinese audience.

Wow huge for Zootopia - it's a great film, glad it's performing well.

How's God's of Egypt performing?

It's doing ok. At 24m. Should get to mid 40s for a 10% bump over OD friday.

What's with all the Friday releases lately? Locals killing HLWD so they cut em some slack?

Shi Jian Xiang miscalculated 3 things while setting a date for Ip Man 3.
1) Apparent Box Office Frauds by haters (He still claims there was no fraud, and is taking legal actions against people accusing the company).

2) Impact of Bluray release, search Weibo Ye Wen 3 and everyone is talking about watching the movie online. =.=
3) Zootopia's Explosion. Shi wanted the whole of March to be dominated by Ip Man 3 but Disney and Warner Bros had other plans, with Zootopia and BvS both in March, Ip Man 3 was caught in the cross fire and Zootopia's popularity causes showtime slashes for IpM3.

Ip Man 3 would have done at least 1.2billion if released on Feb 8th. Same as Kung Fu Panda 3, both killed by release date.
MK2 or Macau 3 would have scored at most 600m Yuan if released on March 4th with Zootopia. Release date is still a key criteria in China's market...

the biggest miscalculation is fudging (to such an exaggerating content) ... when people learned it's box office cheating, most of them, feeling very disgusted, avoided going to see it.

Fans of the franchse went to see IPM3 on opening weekend with discounted tickets offered by the promotion. After the fraud news broke out, people on the fence of seeing it decided to boycott it, downloading piracy. Now the Film Bureau is investigating the fraud. Shi Jian Xiang has losed in every category. there was even a report saying he faked all his profiles.
