I wouldn't call it Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece (not over Pulp Fiction, anyway), but it's a damn good movie. It blew me away when I saw it on its opening night, and it has held up spectacularly well in repeat viewings. It's a terrific showcase of Tarantino's ability to deftly juggle comedy, tension, violence, and character development.

It's pretty damn good and I actually rank it fourth on Tarantino's filmography. It's memorable sequence after memorable sequence, the opening scene alone is one of the opening scenes in cinematic history, but, and I say this as a die-hard Tarantino fanboy, his style is wearing thin, he's been doing the same kind of movie since his very first movie. I would love to see Tarantino use his talents in a more serious film.

80/100
