forg
Roughly $4.7 million “THOR: THE DARK WORLD” MUSCLES WAY TO NO.1, GROSSES P199.84M IN 5 DAYS via press release MANILA, Nov. 4, 2013 – Marvel Studios' “Thor: The Dark World” thundered to the top of the Philippine box office this week, lifting the All Saints/Souls Day weekend frame (Oct 30 to Nov 3) to the highest in history – a staggering P199.84-million in five days. The epic sequel on the Mighty Avenger also hammered the record for the biggest October opening day ever at P43.4-million (established Oct 30, 2013) and biggest November opening weekend all-time surpassing previous holder “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II’s” P197-million. This was announced today by Victor R. Cabrera, managing director of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Philippines. Putting these figures into perspective, “Thor: The Dark World” opened stronger than recent superhero films, including the first “Thor” (P60-M), “Captain America: The First Avenger” (P91-M), “The Dark Knight Rises” (P99-M) and “Amazing Spider-Man” (P143.6-M). The Chris Hemsworth-starrer also reached significant milestones such as the sixth biggest all-time opening weekend, third highest opening ever for a Disney-released title (after “Iron Man 3” and “Marvel's The Avengers”) and fourth most successful debut for a Marvel film (coming off “Iron Man 3,” “Spider-Man 3” and “Marvel's The Avengers”). Internationally, “Thor: The Dark World” took in a sensational $109.4M from 36 markets led by $13.4M in the U.K. It is scheduled to bow in the US Nov. 8. Back in the Philippines, the film rolled out in some 490 screens with SM North EDSA taking the largest share with P10.76-M in gross, followed by SM Mall of Asia (P10.57-M) in second, and Trinoma (P9.57-M), third. Making up the Top Ten cinemas are SM Megamall (P8.57-M), Glorietta 4 (P6.27-M), Newport (P6.09-M), SM Cebu (P5.61-M), Alabang Town Center (P5.07-M), Greenbelt 3 (P4.72-M) and Power Plant (P4.41-M). Occupying the 11th to 20th slots are Eastwood (P4.40-M), Greenhills (P4.28-M), SM Southmall (P4.12-M), SM Aura (P4.08-M), SM Fairview (P3.67-M), Robinsons Magnolia (P3.33-M), Gateway (P3.15-M), SM Clark (P2.88-M), Shang Cineplex (P2.87-M) and Market! Market! (P2.81-M). Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. To defeat an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor sets upon his most dangerous and personal journey yet, forced into an alliance with the treacherous Loki to save not only his people and those he loves…but our universe itself. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, p.g.a., from a story by Don Payne and Robert Rodat and screenplay by Christopher L. Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery “ #83 in August, 1962. “Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios and distributed locally by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.

I have a friend who have relatives there and they said to her than one island was almost wiped out leaving only 11 houses intact and just 27 survivors for the whole town.
