grim22
North gets really angry reactions on the internet due to the complete and total lack of racial and cultural insensitivity on display in the movie. The ending also gets singled out for being the ultimate cliche of "It was all a dream". After having seen the movie, i can say that this was the only way they could have ended the movie, because this ending means that all of the racial stereotypes on display were actually in North's mind. Since North is a young kid who hasn't been exposed to the outside world all that much, it makes sense that he would look at the world like a racial stereotype since that is what he would actually believe i.e. Igloos in Alaska, Tree Huts in Africa.Does this make North an actually good movie? Hell No, but at least i can see where they are coming from regarding the portrayal of race and culture in the movie.
