nr. 3 on my favourite-Mel-Brooks-film list. Hilarious, anarchic, absurd -you name it, he got it. What's missing in this very early work is the fine-tuning; compared to "Young Frankenstein" or "Spaceballs", the timing is not as perfect and the pace and look are - pedestrian? Still, highly recommended!

Yup Mel Brooks was a Genius! Writer, Director, Producer, Movies & TV.

And Yes I know he is still alive, but he isn't making these great movies anymore.

PS. What 3 - Are you forgeting he also did the Producers? Which is considered Great?

PS 2. I also liked High Anxiety - not perfect but a nice tribute to Hitchcock!

Blazing Saddles is insane in the best sense. It's fairly inconsistent and sometimes the commentary feels more mean-spirited than anything. That said, when it's funny, it's hilarious. The first two acts are just alright, but the third act... Miraculously, I had no idea what the third act entailed going into this, and as soon I realized what was happening, it was one of the most incredible feelings I've ever had in a movie theater. Cleavon Little anchors the movie really well, and Wilder does a great job being funny without stealing the show like he easily could. Blazing Saddles is a fun if only decent movie that has an absolute comedic masterpiece of a third act. Really incredible how much a great ending can make one feel a movie is better than it is overall. B
