  1. Yeah I was saying that since I was only 8 when it was released maybe it just didn't register to me. I probably heard it on the radio. The chorus sounds faintly familiar. But it's definitely not something I've heard regularly. I would have never guessed it was the best selling christian pop song lmao.
  2. mm maybe I was too young in 2001 I was 8... mm listening to it again it sounds faintly familiar. but a lot of christian pop songs sound similar so I can't really be sure.
  3. it's weird I grew up going to church and I have never heard of the song "I can only Imagine" but I read somewhere that it is the most played and best selling contemporary christian song of all time. There really is a huge divide in the black church and the white church lmao.
  4. lmao this gives me absolutely terrible memories. He nailed what 8th grade is like
  5. lol no Deadpool dropped 41.4 from it's previous Tuesday the same Tuesday.
  6. He's the new YA It bow He was in the 5th wave with Chloe Moretz and Everything Everything with Amandla Stenberg as well.
  7. so WOM really is still a thing. Like BP had an inflated OW due to holiday and it's going to end up with like a 3.4 multiplier on a huge opening weekend.
  8. yeah great reaction on twitter, facebook and reddit . Think it could be a hit. Depends on the reviews and word of mouth though I guess. Currently has an 85% on RT.
  9. lol please most of the people defending it are Ava fans or people who want to defend the work and merits of a black director. These disney conspiracy theorists are so annoying lmao.
  10. Lmao I’ve seen Marvel fans on reddit be annoying about it and now saying that infinity war is guaranteed to make 2 billion now.
  11. I mean the movie is about a biracial girl in search for her white father based on a children’s book from the 60’s. Not to be racially inflammatory but that doesn’t really scream to most of the black community as “we must support this movie!” Thats why why I think pushing the “diversity angle was a weird marketing move from the beginning. It seemed they were trying to ride the wave of black panther when the films couldn’t e more different..
  12. I said from the beginning the black community wasn't going to come out in the numbers they did for Black Panther. From the outlok Wrinkle In time doesn't even come across as a black movie besides maybe the inclusion of Oprah.
  13. I really think love simon will be a big hit Idk why people are discounting it
  14. asian characters in general are Sparce in both marvel and DC but especially Marvel. It is why I believe people campaigned really hard to make Iron Fist asian in the Netflix show and why people were annoyed with changing the ancient one to a white woman.
  15. Marvel Phase 3 has been great so far in terms of quality and box-office. Even in terms of racial and female representation I feel they really improved. Between Spider-man Homecoming, Civil War, Black Panther and Thor Ranagnorak female characters and ethnic minorities, and particularly women of color were given a lot more to do. Hopefully asian actors can get more representation. Captain Marvel is looking great for racial diversity so far! I'm also surprisingly hyped for Ant-man and Wasp. Hopefully they are both great films. To be honest I'm probably the odd one out in not being that hyped for Infinity War because it just feels so convoluted with too many characters lol.
  16. I know the tracking is low but I'm hoping this might surprise. Or maybe have good legs at least. I know trailer views don't mean much lol but the trailer has like 18 million views which is a lot for this genre
  17. I mean I guess his point that masculine, conventionally attractive, cisgender, white guy maybe having an easier time then more feminine gays is somewhat true but acting like being gay is easy or accepted now that gay marriage is legalized is just super ignorant. I feel some people live in a bubble. Being gay is still really unacceptable in many parts around the states. But even if you live in an accepting environment self identity and self acceptance issues are such a big thing that gay teens face. And YA romance stories always focus on attractive popular wealthy (and often white) people I don't see why Love Simon has to be different.
  18. honestly this is a bad take. I'm not gay and don't attempt to speak for them. (apparently the author is gay) but people who act like being gay in America is some widely accepted thing and super easy for teenagers just seem out of touch with teenagers or just willingly obtuse. Maybe if you live in some big liberal city but anywhere outside of that coming out of gay is going to be super scary no matter how open minded you friends are or how liberal your parents are. I think a cute teen YA rom com story featuring gay characters and treating them as normal every day teens with problems every teen faces is definitely needed. I don't think this film needs to justify it's existence.
  19. the werewolves were not all native americans. Maybe their characters were supposed to be but the actors certainly weren't which defeats the point. Taylor Lautner ain't Native American as much as he has an "ethnic" look to him.
  20. Really? I've only seen the first film but I honestly don't remember any racial minorities besides that black vampire. Edit: Maybe she had an asian friend as well? I forget it was a while ago lol.
