    hey Guys, I found out an issue with my SW9 preview data. Please ignore it for now. It seems data got mixed with Day 2 BO. I will update and post later. Last update was not right. Sorry for posting wrong data. Should never update that late in the night.

    I agree. Again please dont put plain statements like that. This is just previews we are talking about and even that is impossible. Market is lot more busies than when Endgame opened. That had like 70% of screens !!!! But final week sales of SW9 should be higher than endgame bcos endgame was almost full at that time and had limited growth potential BTW Is it possible for to get another update on thursday. It would be good to get final number for long term purpose.

    FYI the release date for SW9 is perfect for big multi. Closer to SW7 than SW8 which released a week early and christmas eve fell on 2nd saturday and so its 2nd weekend drop was ridiculously bad. Please keep that in mind before projecting multis.

    Despite huge burst in ticket numbers I have seen, I still dont want to believe it beating Endgame previews. Stupid tracking for Toy Story has ensured I take all these tracking services with a grain of salt.

    I dont think all of them were done in few hours. I think MTC listed them late. Its just what my scrapper pulled. One thing is my process cannot over represent. if anything it under represented data as it does not pull unreserved screens and there are theaters with multiple sellouts that I dont pull. I am doing this for 12 weeks and there is no way I am pulling bogus data. Let us take it offline. I can upload the raw data that you can verify. 1m was a joke. I am thinking 50m previews all along. I dont think it can keep that pace.

    So for the 2757 new shows added I ran and got 137990/563973 1932136.85 !!!! At this point previews are at MTC1 previews - overall 8486 shows 544137/1482775 7935317.88 I am hoping it can sell close to 1m tickets at MTC1 for previews. Please ignore it. New shows that got in are Day 2 shows.

    ^^^ MTC2 so far has not refreshed in a big way. Do you know when they finalize shows for the thursday?

    its just monday evening and already if I refresh show count I am see 100's of shows being added. it wont be over till afternoon tomorrow and then PS should start to ramp up. at mega cities, any new shows added during not so crazy time is selling out quickly and so I am expecting HUGE ramp up. PS should double today. I just refreshed previews at MTC1 and I see 2778 new shows added for previews !!! I am hoping now for 10K shows at MTC1( Greed is good).

    Does the fandango api provide info on tickets sold. It does not seem to be so. They only provide apis for showtimes, movies and theater list according to the web page. I doubt they will want to share details on how many tickets are sold through their platform. That is their financial data.

    Suddenly F2 is developing F1 legs. That drop is amazing. Just 76% drop for a kids flick is amazing. I just checked F2(did not even track yesterday). Weekly drop is just 18% at MTC1 !!!! I am seeing 78.5% drop for Jumanji at MTC1. That would mean 3.43m monday. Way below what I was thinking this morning.

I am hoping for at least 7K shows at MTC1 for previews and 5K at MTC2. for OD the show count should cross 8K. let us wait for tomorrow for big burst and then again on final day. I also ran D6/7 earlier this morning. Good numbers especially on christmas day.     I Hope we soon figure out which theaters are screening the prologue. Trailer should hopefully be released online this time(silly not to).

    FYI my data for MTC1 is not complete. One its only for Reserved screens, 2nd MTC1 does not return data for sellouts at times(even remove them all together). So I do miss tons of data. Especially for a big movie. That said its enough to project.

    1st its great ZackM is so confident about building a scrapper. Please do it. i just looked at the site and it cannot be scrapped from backend. 1st its asking for login and plus it needs us to select seat count before looking at seat map. But it should be doable from front end. Go for it @ZackM @Menor on fandango, sometimes wait. it might work at a later time. your process cannot be blocked.

    I think real acceleration will start tomorrow once next burst of shows are added. Dont forget this movie is already almost full in all prime time and even later shows. What is available are shitty seats and crazy late shows. So it does not matter what happens today but tomorrow onwards the pace would be much higher.

    Considering Jumanji's saturday increase, it seems to behave like a family movie. So unlikely to have huge weekdays. Its pay day will start post the coming weekend when there is 2 weeks of boosted BO.

    what competition. Holdovers are not that strong and IP4 PS is awful for a sequel. Issues is none of those. SW just does not interest chinese audience. I dont think JJ has ever directed a snooze fest but what ever works for chinese folks.

    That sunday estimate was definitely bit too optimistic but it made a nice headlines as opposed to 58m estimates. Disney would have estimated 56m in the same situation 🙂
