Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
Crusader replied to baumer's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
Its because there's plot exposition on plot exposition I mean just get on with it don't go into all this nonsense I think I know why George went with that - cause he's not a filmmaker he's a businessman therefore trade routes is what he's all about -
He's gonna be too old for it once Craig is done with it Craig has another movie left so a best case scenario is a new Bond in like 5 years and by then Idris will be 47 or older The golden rule for a new Bond is to pick an actor who has just turned 40 or is about to soon in order to have him in his 'golden 40's' for the few movies he has to make Look for the next Bond to be in 32-36 age ratio now That is unless Spectre flops and they drop Craig which ofc won't happen Its too bad IMO Elba would be a great Bond but its not gonna happen

Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith
Crusader replied to baumer's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
its pretty bad and don't get me started on the Anakin's transition to Vader it was cartoon-like. Oh you had a bad dream young one? That oughta be enough to turn you over to the dark side In the final 30 minutes or so it finally does the thing that its supposed to do ( albeit with George's terrible intercut battle sequences to relieve you of all possible tension and excitement ) and it is the best of the prequels but its simply not a good film at all 4/10 -

The Interview | Limited Release on December 25, 2014
Crusader replied to Gopher's topic in Box Office Discussion
I read this in the newspapers today its been making headlines over here too Ridiculous situation if you ask me - one might even consider this extra marketing for the movie when it finally gets released ut one would have to be really cynical -
So I've just seen this and I really can't be bothered with scrolling through other reactions but my guess is a lukewarm reception with a few of those who think that it was pretty great and a few who though it was rubbish ... probably with a lot of debating of plot or science of it lol Here's an interesting parallel - I saw Pacific Rim last year in december alone on my computer in the middle of the night just like I saw Godzilla ... and Pacific Rim was so much better, engaging and just plain fun while this was just plodding along wasting time on characters while at the same time not focusing on the ones that are supposed to matter, then there's the problem of taking itself too seriously yet at the same time being proposterous - either make a fun dumb popocrn monster movie or stop making Watanabe deliver cringe-worhty explanations like he's doing Shakespeare, then there's the lame approach to the story where they are making Godzilla a good guy which is boring and frankly quite stupid I mean its a giant fat lizzard-dinosaur thing that doesn't talk but is clever enough to not harm a single human and to fight the other monsters like a boxer - give us a break will you - its a monster! Have it do the thing that it does and be done with it, then there's the plot that you know exactly where's it headed before it gets there which always irritates the piss out of me there's a clever sentence from some filmmaker I read a while back and I was reminded of it constantly during the movie and it goes along the lines of : The audience is always 2 steps ahead of you and you have to keep their interest as hard as you can Now, don't get me wrong I know these movies just like disaster movies and rom coms and revenge movies have to follow a formula I can understand that but you either put a twist to the formula ( making Godzilla the hero was not a twist it was a predictable cop out ) or you keep the audience entertained throughout in order to bypass the problem of the inevitable route the movie must cross. The movie just kept going on without any real effort to make me engaged I mean I have no idea what the main character's name was ... btw his popping up everywhere where the monsters appeared was just a perfect example of a paper thin story In the end its not all THAT bad the director seems competent if overpraised as he is around here and on a technical level its alright but Pacific Rim was a MUCH better and enjoyable experience and to prove it - 5-10 years down the line PR's rewatchability meter will be running high while I simply can't see that for this movie 4/10 feeling a bit generous

Excellent entertainment Baumer listed everything that was great about it and so did mattmav so I'll just add a few thinsg I would've preferred to be different 1. It takes too long to kick off ... it could've been done 10 minutes sooner IMO ... these movies do generally take a while to get things going and while the house attack is the 'official' start of the action I think that it really kicks off at the club which is a tad too late 2. Ian Mcshane, Dafoe and Leguiazmo were a bit underused especially Dafoe but since they were striving to clock in at a much desired time for a movie like this ( under 100 minutes ) its alright I guess ... oh another thing I liked was how much it draw inspiration from Hong Kong action cinema of which I was always a major fan ( my second favorite film of all time is The Killer ) Jason Statham must be so jealous right now this is what he's striving for but his movies usually fail him Bring on the sequel ! ... grading doesn't matter to a film like this but I'd say 8/10

This plus 2 things : 1. Sam Worthington really doesn't have much talent does he ? I mean come on lets face it he's wooden and quite uncharismatic ... maybe he only works in the overly CGI world of Pandora 2. Bell's girlfriend character was hot and all that but it was coming off as really too much I mean they knew they had a shitty film going on here and they kept waving her tits in your face so you don't notice it and when things got really contrived she totally unnecessary got in her underwear - that being said she is Fiiiiiiiiine

Excuse me why is it a fair game ? The show airs on monday around the world ... its all good when they don't fuck it up in US but its all good when they do it for the rest of the planet They should not post spoilers for 3-4 days after the show aired - simple as that -

... and over the world too ! This show is really popular worldwide and they had this giant launch effort to ensure it airs everywhere on monday only to put up spoilers once it airs in the US ? Out of the 30 mil liking the page on FB I'm guessin at least half of them are outside of US ... and no staying off facebook or social media for 24 hours is not an option - its solely their fault not mine -

Show's facebook page is really terrible I mean I get the show on mondays and so does the rest of the world and yet as soon as it aired they posted a giant picture of Daryl holding Beth that said ' RIP Beth' in giant letters I mean come on ! Other than that good episode I knew she was gonna bite it it was either her or Carol and Carol aint going anywhere What was the after credits scene I missed that ? -
I say Arctic Monkeys 'Do I wanna know' totally sound like an intro for a Bond movie so they'll be up for it Maybe Muse ( but I dislike them ) ... or maybe Noel Gallagher ( but I don't think they'll go for him - they need teens to be on board with the song ) I kinda think and wish for it to be done by a rock-orineted artist/band

What the fuck ????? 190 mil budget MUST be false or other studio's attack at them because anyone who has seen the godawful film knows it couldn't have had that big of a budget ... it looked like it didn't even have a 90 mil budget Interstellar which looked amazing had a few actors who are actually relevant and command salaries much higher than those in the Expendables and a director who takes alot of the money both upfront and has a backend deal and it cost 165 Expendables 3 was shot in Bulgaria and even if they spent like 50 mil combined for the cast ( which they didn't ... my guess is somewhere around 30-40 ) there's nothing in the movie whatsoever warranting that ridiculous budget btw Sly should either re-think his career direction or quit cause he's embarassing himself now

Good episode they are setting up the mid-season finale to be an attack on the hospital -
Well I actually took it as a good thing given the tone the film set out to achieve ... IMO sometimes you want your fun time to be just that - fun while it lasts. I thought it succeeded perfectly in that

lol indeed even people that didn't like Interstellar are noting that its worth seeing on the big screen for some of its sequences How would the young people of today sit through 2001 ?
