  2. Vaguely remember grumbling that it was too slick and dumbed down compared to the TV show. The good old days were always better, no matter how far you go back.
  3. This was filmed in Fresno and cost 100K to make, and that's apparently after they had to reshoot 80% of it because one of the actresses lost a bunch of weight after it got picked up by Blumhouse. That's how Cassidy Gifford ended up in it. The Kardashians were at the premiere because Kathie Lee and Kris Jenner and their families have been friends for years.
  4. Can't believe people saw this at 10! But I've heard so many boys say Winslet's boobs were the first ones they ever saw. Us teen girls didn't get quite the same show with Leo. Remember when it was supposed to come out July 2: Had it stuck to that date, box office/Oscar history might be completely different!
  5. Saying it's the star of MBFGW doesn't help if she looks virtually unrecognizable on the poster.

  7. Yay, Greek Wedding's never #1 is so much more impressive than Inside Out's run would have been!
  8. Last year Nightcrawler and Ouija switched from estimates to actuals. The estimates had a 9K difference, it was really more like 300-400K with the final numbers.
  9. AWF generally think JLaw will get nominated but she's already won Best Actress and will be just 25 next spring. Plus, can the Miracle Mop conquer women's suffrage (with a Streep cameo)? Posters change their minds as the year goes on and movies are reviewed and the season kicks off in the fall, so the summer's "locks" fade away, just like how here, movies are "locks" to be box-office hits or flops and the story changes once they're released. AWF is like any other place online, there's a culture there and it's not for everyone. You can either take it seriously or just laugh at that poster who refuses to type out Kate Winslet's name. The release date being moved up seems like good news, though it's more a straight swap and the old date wasn't horrible by any means.
  10. His archives go back to summer 1997 and he was around before BOM. Speaking of, look back the earliest Mojo columns. Seem familiar? Maybe Keith started his research on writing columns from the first days of the site.
  11. This show needs an angle to make it stand out in some way. It's not bad, just kind...there. Denzel's son plays Ricky.
  12. Go Mama GOOP! Just kidding I know Blythe Danner is a stand-out actress in her own right. Just watched her yesterday in 1776.
  13. Because original movies and sequels geared to men, never ever disappoint or bomb. We haven't seen that happen at all this summer. That, and not because 2012 was the 100-year anniversary of the Titanic's launch/sinking. Of course. It was, on Wednesday, so that was enough to run the ad without it being totally dishonest. I also like the ads that say a movie is the #1 comedy/drama/animated film in theaters to get around it not being #1 overall.
  14. They barely used Pettyer in the promo campaign of the first one. The novelty factor is gone and audiences still feel burned by all the "dark side of stripping" stuff and the arty yellow filtering that critics loved while women wanted Ladies' Night: The Movie. The promo this time was all about how the story was more lighthearted like people wanted before. They had a lot of making up to do, and July 4th weekend maybe wasn't the best for this sort of film.
  15. I didn't even know about this until yesterday, when I saw the trailer before JW (I see there's a thread, I guess I saw "Max" in the title and lumped it in with the Fury Road talk). Max doesn't scream "Thursday night previews", seems like a movie that should've been released in the winter or early fall, like when they put out Eight Below or Dolphin Tale.
  16. I was shocked by how little the budget was for The Maze Runner; how is it less expensive than 50 Shades? And three cheers for not splitting the last movie (I really hope they stick to that even if the second one has a New Moon sort of increase). Maybe they are hoping for a Fantastic Beasts sort of thing with the extra HG movies. Though you would want to see how well the HP spinoffs actually perform before being sure that's such a good idea. And even there I think HP has more of a die-hard fanbase compared THG so it may not be the greatest basis for comparison. First day under $10M for JW...what's the most days over $10M for a movie?
  17. Divergent isn't a Beautiful Creatures/Mortal Instruments level flop, but it's not massive, either, as much as Lionsgate is in denial about it a mid-level property. The decision to split the finale in two with separate productions is epically stupid but if it means that it flops and other franchises will think twice about that decision, then that's a good thing in the long run. But not so much for Lionsgate, lol.
  18. Or the audience that put the first two HG movies over $400M+ just liked the actual games and without that component, so go all those casual fans who maybe won't be swayed by the "last HG movie ever!" hype because they were never that invested in the franchise? We'll see. Twilight's finale had to deal with the aftermath of KStew's cheating scandal between Part 1 and Part 2 shattering the whole Robsten dream for the Bella/Edward fangirls. They reconciled before Breaking Dawn 2 but the damage had been done.
  19. BTW, the name of Jack Black's new show is called The Brink. When 50 Shades first became a global phenomenon, they gave all the employees with the publisher a 5K Christmas bonus that year. Universal is probably too big to want to spread the wealth like that, but that's the kind of year they're having.
  20. He's actually on an HBO show with Tim Robbins. It just debuted Sunday on HBO along with the new season of True Detective and after The Rock's new sports version of Entourage, Ballers. Are they letting the dinos count the money? Come on, Universal!
  21. The Heat had Sandra Bullock, and now McCarthy is paying the price for Tammy...it happened with Tom Cruise and Edge of Tomorrow, after people felt burned by Oblivion (though it recovered somewhat by WOM and being virtually retitled after its OW) . But she should stay from starring in passion projects directed by her husband from now on.
