  1. Pretty sure this is Lakitu but alot of people think it is Toad...
  2. What a Nolanesque Mario and Luigi game would look like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBRVSdwpjzo http://youtu.be/yPRK1ZW8Y3U
  3. Looks like they're starting with an ensemble pic. Man of Steel 2 is supposed to have Batman, Wonder Woman, and Nightwing. We'll probably see them branch out into standalone films although the future of the Batman franchise is ambiguous. Are they going to stick with the older Batman for the next standalone Batman (Affleck will be even older by the time it comes around)? Are they instead going to restart the franchise like Batman Begins? But then how does the new Batman relate to the DC Cinematic Universe that they are presumably starting with Man of Steel 2? Perhaps the first Batman movie after Man of Steel 2 shows Affleck's Batman transferring the cape to his successor (but then it wouldn't be Bruce Wayne).
  4. Mud was a bit overrated. I was distracted by other stuff at the time but I think I got the gist. MM's performance was his usual. I tell you, him and Brad Pitt love playing themselves!
  5. None of us has boxoffice savvy but it means I should probably increase my Derby projection for BMH. Thanks for sharing.
  6. Thor: The Dark World - 34.28 The Best Man Holiday - 27.5 Free Birds - 7.77 Last Vegas - 7.17 Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa - 6.8 12 Years a Slave - 6.6 Gravity - 5.54 Ender's Game - 5.12 About Time - 4.0 Captain Phillips - 3.8
  7. It had better, I just don't see why it should. For the record, I am NOT predicting a 70% drop for Thor 2. 55%...absolutely
  8. Perhaps the audience for Thor hasn't expanded. It's just more front-loaded. Using Skyfall bumps for the 2nd weekend, I got $25.4 million for Thor 2's 2nd weekend. Thursday - $3.21m (I predict a 10% drop) Friday - $7.6m Saturday - $10.9m Sunday - $6.9m The likelihood of $190m+ for Hunger Games just increased. Thor won't be a problem.
  9. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Gladiator. It's one of those films I can watch repeatedly. With that said, it doesn't rank as high on my list as it seems to 4 a lot of fanboys and fangirls.
  10. This would seem to be unpopular...Gladiator is good but not one of the best movies of all-time.
  11. Rth - Thor2 Tues about 5.4m So it won't have Skyfall like legs but we didn't expect that.
  12. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/ In looking at the biggest world grossers, it is difficult to say which would be the first to lay claim to Global Blockbuster.. Independence Day is widely viewed as the vanguard for the Global Phenomenon but Lion King, released two years prior, grossed more OS back then. Then there's Jurassic Park before it. Movies like Gone with the Wind don't count because while they breached the vaunted $1 billion mark, they did so mainly through domestic grosses. Let's use this thread to analyze what should be considered the first global blockbuster.
  13. Yes, we had an abnormally large Monday so....
  14. So a 50% drop for Tuesday since Monday was a Holiday?
  15. Probably not. Still not sold on CA as a top tier superhero.
  16. I will probably wait for the DVD but I am looking forward to this docu. I didn't know it was coming out. Such memories....
  17. It's like a black hole meeting a black hole. Nobody knows what happens? I cannot imagine a scenario other than Episode VIII coming out May 2017 that this ends well. Why does it matter? Well, if a movie fails to make a profit or enough of a profit then studios will dial back to CYA. This could effect how Episode IX is made as well as standalone films (and whether there will be an Episode X-XII).
  18. I did horribly on the Derby. Didn't think Thor 2 would do so well. Thor 2 - $41.9 The Best Man Holiday - $23.9 Free Birds - $7.78 Last Vegas - $7.28 Bad Grandpa - $6.45
  19. I really hope the mid-credits scene isnt indicative of what we'll get in GOTG. I can see why Alan Taylor wanted to distance himself.
