  1. I thought Bullock's performance was a weak point of the movie. Blind Side was probably the only movie where I thought her performance added to the film. With that said, I know my opinion is in the minority here and she'll likely get nominated.
  2. I kept wondering just how they made this movie, especially without use of the vomit comet (ala Apollo 13). Having read about the puppeteering, I was even more surprised.

  4. Also, make sure you see it in a theater with good sound. The second time, I could barely hear Houston Mission Control.
  5. Watching Season 1 of The Shield now. Can't wait. Breaking Bad Sopranos Rome
  6. I loved Season 1 and Season 2 was ok but man, I can't stand the teen daughter. So annoying. Typical, cliched teen angst. Is she still the same?
  7. Do you binge watch? What are you watching right now? What was the last show? Right now, I'm watching Season One of The Shield and Downton Abbey all the way through. House of Cards, Parks and Recreation (S2), Mad Men (S3) were previous shows. Once I finish Shield and DA, I will rewatch The Sopranos.
  8. Yea, no surprise there would be Oscar bait in October.
  9. The most tense moment for me was at the very end, when she got stuck temporarily underwater. I literally held my own breathe! After so many tense, seat gripping moments - just when I thought it was over - Cuaron exploits my phobia of deep water/drowning. Thanks a lot Cuaron!
  10. http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/weekends/month/?mo=10&sort=gross&order=DESC&adjust_yr=2013&p=.htm I see Gravity coming at around #7 on this list. http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/weekends/month/?mo=10&sort=gross&order=DESC&p=.htm #1 here
  11. Disagree. There was high critical praise but I didn't get the sense that it would fill theaters. Many people expected sub-$40m. I would not have been surprised if it had gross $30-35, that would have been about right.
  12. Gravity Star Trek: Into Darkness The Butler Elysium Fruitvale Station
  13. Indeed. #1 October OW and highest grossing October release. Wow, what a treat!
  14. Gravity should have good legs considering Captain Phillips is really its only competition until Counselor (4th weekend). $42m/$155m
  15. Where I live there were no midnight showings, only 10-11pm.
  16. I agree that Clooney played Clooney in this movie. We get the same upward chin jerk we come to expect, witty easy-going banter, etc. Not that all that is a bad thing - for me.
  17. I came in as a skeptic after had watched my first Schumacher movie two years prior. A horrid movie which shall not be named. Overall, I thought it was OK. It kept my attention as I followed Cage's characters' efforts to piece everything together. The snuff scene was hard to watch though.
  18. There's more to this - behind the scenes. I think that article about discord between her and her owner may have some truth to it.
