  1. Someone mentioned the Northern Mariana Islands the other day. Hilarious. I'm rooting for Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, America Samoa, etc to keep us over $200million for the Actuals! :)I think Iraq and Afghanistan boxoffice totals should count toward Domestic as well. *ducks for cover*
  2. Imagine the meltdown and anger on this board if the actuals come under $200 million.
  3. Here is my eclectic list:McCauley CulkinHaley Joel OsmentChuck NorrisKeshia Knight PulliamMalcolm Jamal WarnerHugh Grant
  4. Star Wars blu-ray and all the top movies for this Spring/Summer.
  5. $80.5million Friday$68.5million Saturday$52.5million Sunday$201.5 million OW
  6. I too thought the $60m was low. Why wouldn't TA do as well as Spiderman 3 (14-15% Sat drop, 22% Sun drop). $200m OW is still in play folks.
  7. I think Zemeckis still has it in him. The sooner he's over this CGI love-fest the better.
  8. TA won't even need a Saturday jump. It just needs Spiderman 3 like drops and it's at $200m.
  9. I also rather enjoyed Village and Lady in the Water.
  10. tribefan695 pretty much summed up my thoughts.
  11. Fifty years from now, will we (or our children) look back and see the first decade or two of the 21st century as the Age of Superhero movies, just as the 1970s are still known for all the Disaster movies? Have Superhero movies dominated the boxoffice and, more importantly, permeated the national movie consciousness, so much as to DEFINE the first 10-20 years of movies this century?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disaster_film#1970s
  12. I enjoyed the last Punisher film. Saw it twice in theaters.
  13. I see his point though. While Cars 2 turned out to be profitable it did tarnish Pixar's AAA reputation, just as A Bugs Life did. I haven't seen Cars 2 but the critical and audience response was near unanimous in that it was one of Pixar's weaker offerings. Two consecutive toons that don't meet Pixar's traditional standard of excellent could have long-term deleterious effect on the brand. Pixar very quickly bounced back from ABL with Toy Story 2 and Monsters, Inc and I expect Brave and Monsters University to repair the company's reputation.
  14. In addition to Wizard of Oz,1. Gone with the Wind2. Dr Strangelove (bits and pieces)3. Bridge on the River Kwai4. Superman I (I've prob seen 90% of it but not all the way through in one sitting)5. Casablanca6. Godfather 37. A Streetcar Named Desire8. Philadelphia9. Harry Potter movies10. Twilight moviesAlso, I hear one is SUPPOSED to see Sixth Sense for a 2nd time due to the ending but I've only seen it once.
  15. Movies that you haven't seen all the way through but are either fan favorites or classics that everyone "should" have seen.I am embarassed to admit this but I've never seen the Wizard of Oz. Just tiny bits and pieces. I added it to my Netflix account though.
  16. Hi box, thank you for your post. I'm not so worried about the story actually. I think a capable screenwriter can very easily craft a decent storyline around two plumbers finding a portal to an alternate reality and find themselves saving a Princess from a dinosaur named Bowser. *tongue in cheek*
  17. I'm not talking about an adaptation along the lines of the Hoskins/Leguizamo disaster but a faithful adaptation of the Mushroom Kingdom adventures, with Goombas, Koopas, the whole works. This is an idea I've been mulling over for many years now. I think it could do well, especially if it is modeled after the universe of SMB 3 (Tanooki/Racoon suits, Koopa children, etc).**A faithful treatment might be very costly and CGI intensive but as the boxoffice revenue thread shows, theatrical runs represent just a fraction of revenue sources.http://forums.boxoffice.com/index.php?/topic/3278-interesting-facts-about-boxoffice-receipts-and-other-revenue-sources/
