As you may or may not know, Alibaba Holdings recently became one of the highest valued companies overnight. The company and its largest shareholder, Japan's Softbank, now have billions of dollars to spend however they want. Both have expressed interest in Hollywood and movie entertainment in general. Jack Ma, now one of the richest men in the world, wants to make inroads somehow in the film industry. Will the impact be more behind the scenes (example: India's Reliance financing much of Spielberg's projects), a takeover of an American studio, more imports of eastern asian films or will it be mostly overseas investments and projects ("Chinese netflix")?
