  1. By someone who has sources, we'll see if it pans out or not. Your tone is so aggressive man.
  2. If it allows Boone to make the film he wanted and set out to make at first, then that's great. I've been told Disney wants Anya Taylor Joy in X-Force, so if it means that the reshoots allow New Mutants to live on beyond this one film, or if Disney wants to reuse some of the actors in other films, then that's great.
  3. As long as Legendary foots most of the bill, I think it's safe. GvK hopefully will be big. KOTM will be a weird anomaly.
  4. "Good films don't need to be 50% reshot", ugh, look, this is Fox, Fox who cut two movies to one movie for Dark Phoenix 2 months before shooting began. When they decide to put their hands in there, they fuck it up big time. Could turn out either way, what we KNOW is that the trades that reported first on the reshoots all said the film tested well, Sneider said it tested as well as Deadpool, ALL of them said that Fox wanted it to be even more horror oriented and add more scares. Which is what Boone intended to make, then Sneider said there were rewrites and Fox basically asked him to direct a YA version of it, and that the reshoots would allow Boone to make the film he really wanted to make from the beginning. Then the merger happened, Fox lost their mind (ie Dark Phoenix cut from two films to one without ANY explanation to Kinberg, cast and crew), the actors were busy, it fell through the cracks. You can keep believing it'll be a bad film, bla bla bla, I for one have a lot of faith in this and so do others. It's tiring to go on a New Mutants related thread and see constant negativity, you guys don't realize it, or maybe you do. How about showing some optimism, or actually discuss the film itself, however little we might know. If folks are posting just to reiterate for the 10000th time that "the film is a mess, DUMP IT on streaming", why bother.
  5. Must be a complicated film to shoot, but I'm not sure when the film actually started shooting? Cruise had already posted photos of him on set and yet some sites were saying the film hadn't started yet? Edit: "The jet, which belongs to the San Diego Air and Space Museum Gillespie Field Annex, was used for the filming of Top Gun 2 at Naval Air Station North Island over the winter. During filming, the F-14 never took flight." From the article, so they're done shooting apparently.
  6. KOTM is superior to G14 and is fantastic. And yes, there's a ceiling, G14 and Kong: SKU both between 500 and 600M. GvK will probably pass Kong: SKU but that will be the highest it goes. I'm so thankful those films exist, and Legendary and WB sharing budget (with Legendary footing most of the bill) is a good thing.
  7. I have bad news for the haters, Yates has confirmed a few months back at a Q&A that he was indeed directing the third one and was working extensively with Rowling and Steve Kloves on the script. I'm tired of reading this nonsense, Yates has delivered for Warner Bros consistently, Rowling, Heyman love him, with good reason. TCOG got a mixed reception, that happens, there's no reason to replace him when all his HP films are not only fantastic (feel free to disagree, and yes the books are different, they're both complimentary), very well reviewed and made a lot of money, then Tarzan still made money despite mixed negative reviews (still a decent film), then FBAWTFT got an excellent reception, made a ton of money. So yeah, there's absolutely no reason for it, I get the curiosity of seeing someone else's take on it but this is his, and that's that. I have no doubt the third film will be fantastic and whatever qualms folks had with TCOG will vanish once the whole picture is revealed by Jo.
  8. Several reports (from Jeff Sneider, and trades) say that the film tested well, as high as Deadpool's first screenings. Not that test screenings are always a sign your film is good or bad, Scorsese's films test terribly for example. So maybe inform yourself a little on everything surrounding the film before being an a-hole. @Macleod Sure, the reshoots are happening, and Disney could have found a way around the contracts to dump it on Hulu or Disney + later this year, they didn't have to give it a sweet release date in April, but sure, keep making up fantasies in your mind.
  9. Just making an educated guess, we don't know how much is needed, could just be 20M, more likely lower ranger than higher range, just rumors out there that the setpieces will be made bigger and more intense, but it's still a small scale film. We'll talk about this again next year, prepare to eat crow.
  10. Once again, the budget is supposed to be 45M, let's say Disney pays the same amount for reshoots with more action, etc as the rumors say. It will make coin, especially if it's marketed as it should be, and it will just feel very different. It won't bomb. Its budget assures that. By the way, someone told me of a rumor that Disney wants Anya Taylor Joy in X-Force, and mentioned the Kitty Pryde film, saying she doesn't know if Anya is in it. By the way, DanielRPK has teased the Kitty Pryde film on Twitter like a few days ago, when he'd been adamant for months that everything was getting rebooted (depends if Page comes back I guess).
  11. Yes and? The average joe won't necessarily know it's related if X-Men doesn't show up in the title.
  12. Watch this movie be good and actually tie into the MCU or at least leave a window open for that. Use your logic. Contract be damned, Disney would NOT be investing money in reshoots if they did not see potential. They don't have a reason to bother (see them nuking several projects lately, from Fox), so Feige must see potential there. Also, this is supposedly a 45M film, it's going to feel very different, there apparently at one point wasn't any mention of the word mutant in the film, no average joe would know from that first trailer that the film is even in the X-Men universe, if there is a launching pad to bring the mutants in the MCU, this is it.
  13. KOTM is fucking great, I can only think of Godzilla 14 leaving a bad taste in peoples' mouths and the usual trend of sequels in franchises decreasing on the second film as the reasons why it's underperforming. Aladdin is strong competition too. GvK should be different though.
  14. Why are there STILL people wondering whether it's going to theaters, it is, it's been confirmed multiple times or do you just not believe it? Dark Phoenix will have no bearing on it, the average joe would have no idea from the original trailer that this even takes place in the X-Men universe. That Disney is investing money at all in the film for reshoots MEANS something. Call me an optimist but I can see The New Mutants as one film Feige and co will use to introduce the mutants in the MCU, it wouldn't take much, they have the time to throw a connection in there, it can even be subtle. Fact is, the multiverse is one of the best things that's happened to the MCU, it opens up the possibilities for New Mutants or the X-Men to be happening in another dimension or something. Fact is, we don't know their plans FOR SURE, rebooting the X-Men themselves is what everyone is assuming, but Feige having produced the X-Men trilogy (first ones) makes me think he probably respects it, and they've got a fantastic main cast right now, not to mention the OGs, I would be really surprised if Feige just throws it all away, we'll see.
  15. Should be between 350 and 400M right? let's say 110-120 from China, 35-40 from Japan, 110 domestic.
  16. Avatar had a rerelease for the special edition, it only made 30 million more. So if Endgame does that, it's flat out cheating, Avatar didn't have anyone to beat and it's not as if they rereleased the theatrical cut.
  17. Exactly, the assumption that the die hard fans are going to be the ones to bother doing so is laughable. @RealLyre is underestimating how much some folks can hate anything, that's why negativity is so pervasive online, it sometimes seems much bigger and louder than it really is. Anyway, with everything that surrounds the film, the bad publicity, the Fox-Disney deal (with I'm sure a feeling among certain folks of "why care about this film since it's all getting rebooted anyway), regardless of actual "quality" (because that's for every one person to determine on their own), there's just a whole whiff of toxicity there, it reminds me of what The Lone Ranger and John Carter had to face. So yeah, of course it will be the lowest grossing X-Men film or on par with First Class (that deserved so much more).
  18. That'll serve all the clowns who said Avatar would be crushed after opening weekend and proceeded to mock the film, Cameron (along with some tasty Twitter hashtags), where are those people now? We can gloat even though it's not a done deal but seems likely Endgame won't pass it, I told you so we can say, they deserve it. Anyway, let's settle in for the long wait now !
  19. The RT audience score being verified now doesn't stop people from demolishing a film for the fun of it anyway. We'll see PostTrak and Cinemascore.
  20. The exits for Godzilla are great, there's just not enough people that showed up. Happens.
  21. It's a coproduction, WB paying for 25% of it. It will be a disappointing finish but Godzilla Vs Kong will more than make up for it I imagine, I hope.
  22. Over definitely. KOTM underperforming is really fucking baffling but if there's one film in the Monsterverse that can top 600M, it's this one. Audiences, not really relying on you now, hoping you don't fuck this one up.
